So, I’ve signed up for all of the alerts - which has amounted to only one communication from NVIDIA with the launch of the 3080 and nothing else from any of the other providers – New Egg, EVGA, etc. I peruse the usual suspects about 10 times per day for updates on stock. These actions have not produced results. What more could or should I be doing to increase my odds of getting a card?

I’ve heard tale of services that scour the internet for available stock and actually put the item in the cart and then notify you – does anyone have experience or knowledge about that?

I’m actually in the market for a 3090 – any EVGA model or the FE, but I’d take the EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra and the FE if they ever came my way.

I thought I was cool because I sold my EVGA 2080ti in August for more than I paid for it at launch but now I haven’t been able to play games since. I’ve learned my lesson for future launches I guess.

I got tired of waking up early every day and pressing F5 on every website that sells these so I just bought a 2070 Super and stepping up.

If I could. There are no 2080ti or 2080 at all through EVGAS :(

Pre-ordered a 3090 FTW3 Ultra at my local Memory Express in Winnipeg, Canada. I'm supposedly 5th in the queue at my location, so I'll get it ... ????

The NewEgg alerts are setup so that they email out alerts after that product has been in stock for 5mins or more, however they are always sold out within seconds. Same goes for things like instockalerts, their notification system is just too slow.

I'm using Distill the browser extention to check web pages for changes, which will alert me immediately. Unfortunately, as most, still nothing I've managed to snag. I'm after a 3090 FTW3 Ultra or Strix.

Given that the world will surely be consumed by a giant space monster within a few months, I don't anticipate ever getting a 30xx series card.

The monster is just pissed because it got kicked out of the cart at the PayPal stage far too many times and it's coming for us.

Wouldn't it have been great if on the 17th of September there were enough cards to go around? I believe it's all done on purpose and for a reason. I just didn't pay enough attention in Marketing class to learn what that is though...lol. I had a 3080 in my cart on the 17th and couldn't complete checkout, same with the 3090 via the Elite page. And I don't even want a 3090, so the insanity of it all got to me. After it was over I thought what in the hell am I doing? 2020 has affected my brain. So I wait for the Step-Up and per chance a 3080 FTW3 Ultra pops up in stock and I get through checkout, then it will have all been worth it.

I would very much like to have one, but right now my strategy is to wait a few weeks and see what might come down the pike.
I do not want to pay that huge premium for a 3090 card, and I want a little more Vram than the 3080 currently has.
So for now I will continue to make do with my 2080 Ti FTW3.

Was able to order a evga.com 3090 ftw3 Ultra on release day showing up today. And a evga 3080 xc3 ultra from amazon still pending shipment. Was a lot of prep and many f5/clicks to place order. have also had 2 cancelled amazon orders after they where placed. fyi distill worked for 1 amazon with 1 click buy. And evga was manual f5 for the win 13 min of just trying to checkout.

My strategy was that I was impatient and I bought from cyberpowerpc because they had them in stock.
I built a full pc with mostly junk parts. The total cost after 5% off and free shipping came out to ~$3,200

    HOWEVER,
I was able to include the Asus APEX mobo and a 10900kf in addition to the 3090 ftw3
I will take these parts out of the system and put them in my current build.

I will take my old mobo and old 9900k and build a custom waterloop card with the 2080ti hydrocopper it's replacing. Then i will sell it on ebay. I have a powerseller account so it should be an easy sale. Ppl pay top dollar for these types of builds since most ppl dont know how to hard tube their own loop

In the end, it will cost me even less than if i got the 3090 straight from Evga and I get to upgrade my mobo & cpu to boot!

I'm content to wait until vendors have supply for 5 minutes at a time and then rely on a notification website to let me know when they go in stock. That's how I got my 8700k, even though it took a few weeks past the release date. It certainly beats mindless the F5 spamming

I have never done a setup before. I'm inclined of doing it cause I want a 3090, but it looks like it might take a while (I'm using a 1080Ti FTW3 at the moment). If I purchase a 2080 super I can do the setup as soon as I get it (or at least get in the queue) and it will be shipped to me once they are available (even if it takes more than 90 days for them to ship it)?

Also what they ship is a new/sealed card, no refurbished cards right?

I read a bit more and it says you have to send your card in and then they will send you the new one after they received it. Not sure if I'm ok with that. I thought they sent you the new one and then you send the old one back.

It looks like new EVGA cards are pretty hard to find now - no 2080ti anywhere but eBay - and EVGA isn't selling them BUT I did just find an EVGA 2080 Super KO at Microcenter so Ima buy that and step on up to the 3090 FTW3 Ultra whenever EVGA says I can. What a great program!

Hand money to a business and they give me a product. You know, like how businesses are supposed to work in this world. The fact that you need a strategy to buy one tells you what an absolute embarrassment this is.

I've done the Step-Up previously with zero issues. Just ship it back with tracking and insured, I selected 3 day UPS for the new card so really it's about a week max. They're quick about sending your brand new, sealed card to you. It's a helluva cool thing for them to offer, and why I won't purchase any other brand of card. Always was an Asus user prior but really the engineering and the features in the FTW3 series of cards is outstanding.

I was lucky enough to get a 3090 order in last week by refreshing from the review order page.

Essentially I had saved the link of the place order page and would refresh and click place order. If it knocked me back to the featured product page, I would hit back and it took me back to the place order page. Then repeat until I got an order confirmation. It took about 75 mins of crashing but I got an order confirmation in the end.

But just my luck, the card is now stuck in customs at the nearest UPS sorting centre and they haven't done anything to deliver it in the last 2 days. I already paid the COD (taxes/duties) in advance and they're still holding it. Damn it all.

I was lucky enough to get a 3090 order in last week by refreshing from the review order page.

Can you share the cost breakdown of the additional importing fees and costs?

Waiting until the stock is reasonable and they get the capacitor issues sorted out...

Was hoping to pick up a 3090 FTW3 Ultra but after getting all the way through payment four times only to be redirected to buy EVGA lanyards and bits, and now watching the capacitor, driver, Chinese holiday, no stock, no preorders, and whatever other issues fall out, I quit doing the up early and stuck on a screen to F5 over and over for nothing. After almost snagging a card I was too tempted to keep pounding the bar like a trained squirrel.

    Screw it.

I’ll just wait for a silent revision or two and for the turmoil to mellow out. It’s not worth the hassle. Also wondering about just waiting for a “Ti” release. There’s going to be one - just don’t know when. The 3080Ti would probably even save me the entire cost of a Reverb G2 and a M.2 drive while punching at nearly the same performance as the current $1000 extra 3090 FTW3 Ultra.

Maybe by then Nvidia can sort how much to downclock to get reliability too.

This whole thing leaves bad feelings about Nvidia, but so did the 2000 series release. I really wish there were better alternatives. They screwed us with VR-SLI, they do paper releases just to shaft AMD, and they shaft board partners with rushed launches and inadequate testing that forces delays. They embargoed reviews, sent everyone into a frenzy to buy the wrong cards just so they could get one, really pumped up the scalper market, etc.

Never time to do it right but always time to do it over at great expense and inconvenience I guess.

Jensen can shove a handful of his spatulas where the sun don’t shine. Nvidia is a pretty rotten company with this kind of behavior. It’s obvious the only thing they learned from the 2000 series launch was how to make the 3000 launch even worse.
