If I do end up with a 1060, will the rest of my rig need upgraded? I hope not, I mainly play Final Fantasy XIV and now Destiny 2, reverted to playing on my PS4 since it started black screening

PC was Win 10 when it was given to me and I didn't game much on it at the time so didn't have any issues, my monitor(Asus VS24A) is DVI and HDMI,it does it with both connections both before and after the fall creators update. I combed the internet looking for a solution and tried them all. I even rolled back to win 7 thinking it was because I had an old chipset that didn't play well with win 10 and had same issue. I then took it up to my Dad's who is running 2 980ti in SLI and had him try it in his PC.He uninstalled his drivers with DDU and downloaded the ones for mine and it black screened on him too.

What are your full system specs? Are you running the latest version of windows 10? If yes, have you tried to disable fullscreen optimazation on your games to see if it helps stop the black screening?

Running a non vesa certified displayport cable could also be the cause of the black screen if you're using a dp cable.

since I have nothing else to do I am going to go back to win 10 and try what you suggested, can't  play anything and I can't sleep

disabling full screen optimizations in windows 10 did not fix it, had me hopeful too because there is a card available elsewhere i can SLI it with, now I wait to see what I get back after I send mine in. If I get a 1060 I'll be happy I can play,but won't be happy I can't SLI in the future without buying 2 cards for alot more money than the 1 I can get from a friend cheap who just upgraded

You could sli two 1060's by using different sli. 
 
How old is your psu?

Im not going to attempt all that just for as "kind of SLI" that may or may not function. I cant see it functioning as well a true SLI.

My psu is a couple years old.why?

Meh, SLI is more trouble than it is worth. Hope you get a 1070 back, good luck.
