A friend of mine got a 980Ti with an aftermarket AIO and wants to put the reference cooler back on but we are wondering what thickness of thermal pads will be needed. Anyone know?
Thanks!

Sounds good! So we wont order any of the 1.5mm or 2mm thermal pads then. I thought those sounded pretty thick.

Yeah I think it must be 1.0 and 1.5mm sorry I can't remember and it was last year! Here the example for GTX1080 thermal. If you open up your GTX980 cooler heatsink and backplate then you will know how thickness pads are they...Best recommend use Thermal Grizzly Thermal pads!

Your link doesn't seem to work.
According to the EK-FC Titan X/980 Ti installation guide, that waterblock uses 0.5mm pads for both. Should i still go with 1mm for the VRM to install the reference cooler?

    Thanks for fix this link
1mm should be fine for VRAM. I did use on my are 1mm and 1.5mm don't think 0.5mm is too thinner gap between cooler backplate or cooler heatsink
