After browsing this thread I've just discovered the PG35VQ. Think they'll be releasing some 360Hz variants over 27" in Q4 2020 or Q1 2021?

THis 100% is my current problem.  I preordered the Odyssey G9 and cancelled it because it was only "G sync capable" and the microcenter near me has the PG35VQ on sale but I am afraid as soon as I buy it the new 360HZ models that are tuned in for that new "Nvidia reflex" thing will come out for the same price and Ill be pissed.  I want "g sync ultimate" ultrawide for sure.

I'm going to run a LG CX 77 in the living room, but I'm still debating what to do in my office.  After reading this thread and looking at the 38GL950G-B I like it, but if I was going to spend that much I think I'd rather just get an LG CX 48 for cheaper.  I have an Optix MAG321CQR now, but that will be destroyed by a 3090.  I would probably be happy with 32in 4k with HDR at 120/144Hz.  Not sure what good options are there in that spec.

Asus PG35VQ. Just gave my son my 'old' Asus PG279Q. I'm gonna play with ultrawide for a while before going 4K.

If/when i get a 3080, i'll decide between a 1440p 144hz and a 4k 40hz. Currently on a 1440p 75hz, which is would be a bit of a waste then.

27inch samsung g7, lg 27gn950, lg 48inch cx between 2 systems, one will have a 3080 (when i can get one) and the other will have big navi, it all just depends which one is better suited for 4k.

Well whenever I can get my hands on a 30xx card, I will be driving a VR Headset.
Currently Rift S, soon to be HP Reverb G2.

Trying to get an RTX 3090 to drive my main monitor, an ASUS RoG Swift PG27UQ (4k @ 144Hz), and ocasionally doing Nvidia surround along with my other 2x ASUS MG28UQ (4k @ 60Hz) for simulation/driving games.

I'm hoping for a magical 32 inch 4k monitor with 100+hz RR and at least 600+ HDR to appear. Until then I'll be driving a PG348Q.

Re: What monitor are you planning on driving with a 30XX card? 2020/09/30 18:57:49 (permalink)
This is something I have really been meaning to get advice about.
I have a BenQ GW2765 27 inch 1440p 60Hrz monitor.  I wanted a 27 inch 1440p, and it was the most reasonably priced one by far at the time.
Since getting the monitor years ago, I have paired it with an R9 290 and a 1070 SC. and had achieved 60FPS and mostly very high settings.
SO if I were to go with a 3080, I am still limited to 60 fps so a 3080 sounds like a major overkill of performance that wont be utililized.
Money is really tight, and a 4k or even a 1440p with higher refresh rate is not in the cards anytime soon.
A 3070 is logically the card for my scenario...But then I was thinking, while right now, a 3080 will be a massive overkill for 1440p 60fps, but perhaps a few years from now when games are much more demanding, a 3070 will no longer keep up, but the 3080 will then start to utilize all the extra performance to keep me hitting 60fps at 1440p, if I still have the same monitor, or maybe by then i would finely saved for a 4k.
What do you guys think about that line of thinking

I use LG 27GN950-B.

27” with real 4K 144hz with full RGB 10 bit colors. Gsync compatible and HDR600. It’s glorious.

Runs great with the 3080 XC3 but in for a FTW3 3090 ultra with the step up program.

I've just purchased the Lg 48 inch oled to go with a 3090.  I know they've been releasing firmware fixes and hopefully every thing will be cleaned up by the time I get my build together in a month or two.

I bought a 38WK95C-W.
Could not calibrate it to my personal satisfaction.

So i switched it for a 38GL950G-B.
Felt like switching from a "dull/flat" SDR Mode to a more "vibrant" SDR Mode, if that helps.
Its HDR implementation is a fail though.
It is still worth it for me due to its size and SDR capabilities (A new Version with a slighty "improved" panel is out without Gsync though)

For movies i enhance the SDR picture with madvr which can enhance with filters "on the fly" using GPU texture units.
Choosing a custom pixel shader mode and choosing between how much aliasing, artifacting or sharpness the mode provides ...

... that kind of tuning feels exactly like overlocking  :)    for a better picture quality !

It is a resource hog that can max out any turing card if you overdo it with the manual filters.
You would have to use undiluted 4K or 8K footage to get them to that point though.

May the upcoming weeks be with you !

For me it will be a 2K 1440P ROG-Strix-XG279Q
https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/ROG-Strix-XG279Q/

The ability to run at 170 FPS no matter what game it runs is enough to get me interested. on Two 2080 Ti's I can get about 100-120 FPS but it is rare to run 170FPS ultra so 3090 will help in that regard.

Asus PG279Q is what i have.

I hope to get an RTX 3090, and with it I'd love something like a 32" 4k 144hz with gsync, but i might be waiting a while for that...

I'm stuck with a 1080p monitor with strobing ability. I can't play on a normal monitor without getting severe migraines from the blur.  In fact, newer games with Temporal Anti-Aliasing is pretty much destroying my ability to play video games since it's forced blur without a way to fix it.  TAA doesn't give me headaches, it makes me get real sick and I start puking before that happens.
