What mid-tower case did you buy for your z270?

I am in search of a mid-tower case that will allow me to plug in the USB cable without having to modify it. Also, but less important is how quiet it is. So, I am curious as to what the EVGA community is using to house their z270 boards that allows them to connect the usb3 cable to the 90-degree header.

Thank you for your time and have a nice day!

    I use a

    EVGA DG-86

for my first build  a full tower ( yes a case can be too big -but at least the cat can not push it over )

and a mid size all glass Corsair case for a Z370

I keep a few adapter around for USB mod plug for MB that have right angles.

I really hate having to un-screw panels as I am always tinker with the builds

You are doing a good job thinking ahead - I looked at a lot of build pictures in the build sections

Since the 3.0 port is more to the front edge you can use most cases as long as its not a case were the board sits all the way down like some of the corsair air series case that put the psu in the back side area or a extra long psu. also remember if its a eatx you have to make sure the mb tray goes forward enough for that, some have a raised edge.

I have my computer on top of my desk so I would prefer something smaller, but it is starting to look like I may have to go that route unless I want to modify my current case. Atm, I have my eye on bequiet!.

I currently have the Corsair 270R and I totally negated to take that into consideration, so I am seeing what others are using to see if there is something that will fit most of my wants out of a case. Not a lot of pictures out there of people using these boards and the few that are out there leave the usb3 unplugged.

I have built all our systems using Antec mid tower server cases. The situation with the 90 degree connectors would be my only complaint about the EVGA 270 board. With this ATX board I have about an inch left at the bottom of the case for access to the USB 3 header. That was solved by getting a short ribbon cable that fits with the other end terminated in a female 20 pin. Just search the web for cables that will work.

Noise depends on fan speed. The Kaby Lake 7700K processor running at a base 4.2ghz is the fastest processor I have ever had and yet it runs "cold". The Zallman fan assembly stays cool - never even warms up. So I have the case fans all set low meaning quiet.

Here is the link to the one I got from eBay. I like it because it is short and multicolor for easier identification.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-3-0-20-Pin-Internal-Header-Ribbon-Cable-Low-Profile-Connector/323067481394?hash=item4b38528d32:g:O14AAOSwPhdVEZrV  . I would give you the item number but I don't know if eBay is using them anymore? I am sure this is not the only place to get it but between Amazon and eBay at $9.99 including shipping was cheaper than Amazon. I didn't mind waiting.

keep the USB ribbon cables adapters short and think about RFI shielding.

It is going to affect the signal only if it is plugged into that usb or any within its vicinity?

This would be more of a worry for external cables, with cables in the case which would be short and shieled by the case would not be of much concern.

I have been looking at almost every top rated mid tower out there to see if one of them would allow me to plug in the usb3 easily and each one seems to only be compatible with motherboards that do not have it at 90 degrees. I hope that EVGA addresses this on their next mid tower, but until then, this extension should do the trick.
