+1. Go with a Corsair M.2 Gen 4 https://www.newegg.com/corsair-force-mp600-2-tb/p/N82E16820236549?Description=corsair%20m.2&cm_re=corsair_m.2-_-20-236-549-_-Product It is PCI-E 3.0 compatible and gives you some future proofing.
You mean PCI-E 4.0 compatible as well as PCI-E 3.0 compatible. I would agree that people love the samsung EVO drives but that has made the prices of them skyrocket while other companies are making great gaming SSD's. What is odd about that Cosair though is the 2TB is less then the 1TB. For 2TB it's a good price. Also the reason for wanting 2TB over 1TB is M.2 drives don't really have raid support to work together as a single drive and some motherboards only support a single M.2 drive.

I have two M.2 SSDs in my PC. I got rid of my mechanical hard drives a long time ago. I use cloud backup.

Not sure I would store all my data in the cloud, as ownership of it, for me, is an issue. Interesting things happen in this market now and over the years. Like RAM prices, combining an amount is cheaper than the kits. It would seem that a 2TB drive would cost less than twice given the incremental costs in adding the additional TeraByte of storage. May even be Newegg thing. I see that in their site from time to time. Thanks for calling attention to it.

That's nuts. Even from Samsung it's $180 for a 1TB and $600 for a 2TB.

Actually that plus with 2TB is a great price. I was looking at the difference between the Plus and Pro and I'm of the opinion that the performance difference is minimal. My current 1TB Hard Disk is 90% full and most of that is games. My work files barely even take up 1%. So I would prefer an SSD that doesn't go over 70% full. That's why I was after the 2TB version. Thanks!

kevinc313 HP EX950 often priced $250 on sale or less. One of the fastest drives on the market. https://www.newegg.com/hp-ex950-2tb/p/N82E16820326181
Thanks Kevin, that is cheap. Is there any reason my motherboard wouldn't fully support all the benefits of this SSD? From my manual: 1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280 SATA and PCIe x4/x2 SSD support)

Should be fine, just make sure the M.2 slot is running in PCIE 3.0 4x to get max speed. Going to want to boot off this drive.

Edit: Samsung Magician was the key. All is good and exceeds what it is meant to do. At the last minute I went for the Samsung hehe, due to having a fresh credit option at Amazon. How do I know if my SSD is running in 3.0 4x? Where do I read this? My MB says 2x/4x and the speed depends of what else is using SATA. I have removed my mechanical drive and only have an SSD now.

Amazon.com seller, or direct from the manufactures sites, been doing this for about a year now. I gave up on Newegg. Last few orders for me was Amazon.com seller "not 3rd party", Samsung.com, Corsair.com, LG.com and even the local Staples and Bestbuy. EDIT: Looking at getting 1-2 HDD's for a Plex/Roku setup and prob get the drives from the local bestbuy "less chance of shipping damage or getting the HDD's from Westerndigital directly wdc.com

best buy has easy store drives you can shuck. If you wait, you can get 14 TB for 199. Hopefully they run that one. otherwise, they are always putting the 12 TB for 199 and the 8 TB for 139.99. Just check prices daily for a good deal.

Delirious yeah, shop around. https://www.amazon.com/Sa...=1592001760&sr=8-3
Damn. They are good drives but nose bleed pricing.
Wow exact same specs as the Evo Plus and almost half the price. Why is the Samsung so expensive. Charging for the name reputation? I picked up the 1TB version for less for my plex server as a cache drive. but here's the 2TB. says it has a 5 year warranty and good reviews. https://www.amazon.com/Si...electronics&sr=1-3
