I bought the Z690 Classified motherboard for my son, my guess would be it doesn't fit in a standard atx case, does it? What cases have you guys bought? I'm looking for a relatively cheap case to fit this board. Any suggestions?

cheap? no. Not for an E-ATX motherboard that has down-facing connectors on the bottom. Cases I know work: be quiet! Dark Base Pro 900 v2 Corsair 7000D Lian Li PC-011D XL / pc-o11d-rog Thermaltake Core P8, Level 20, A700 (maybe), Tower 900 Fractal Torrent (not the compact or nano, but the full size should work) You want to pay extra attention to where the motherboard power cables have to route (due to the width of the board) and the space underneath the motherboard, because some of the connectors point down. The Corsair 5000D/X cases for example fit the motherboard fine, but you can't plug some of the stuff into the bottom of the motherboard without some modifications to the case (i.e. cutting some holes).

Define 7 works but the rubber cable routing grommets need to be removed. You may need to cut holes depending on what you need like boba said
Options are few much less cheap

I bought an Evo for my new Classified and it didnt fit. The right side of the board overhangs. But I put it in my existing Lancool 2 mesh and it fits like a charm, and on the bright side is cheaper.

If you are going to build a monster like a Z690 Classified - for someone you care about - DO NOT go cheap on any of the components. IMO, you will regret in if you do. So don't do that. :) If I were building a classified, I would be looking at a Meshify 2 or whatever LianLi 011 that floats your boat - in the appropriate sizes, of course. I have an EVGA X299 in a Meshify now for a few years and I like it lots. Airflow is going to be life or death for your components. Seriously, look at Gamers Nexus on YouTube. They have done extensive testing of cooling capacity for a number of recent cases.

I went with a BitFenix Dawn TG case, it looks good and has good air flow as far as I can tell. Dawn TG – BitFenix.com

You should write a review of that case, after the build ... I've not see that brand before Things like - fit, finish, quality. finished or sharp edges or cutouts & any issues you ran accross report on your fan setup & thermals

What did you do about the steel plate that blocks off the 2 USB headers? @ThePoulay

B0baganoosh cheap? I went with the Be Quiet! Dark Base Pro 900 V2 and it’s a really nice case after you learn how to build with it. It’s definitely best to watch some Youtube videos since the the manual is not that helpful in comparison to video. I like that it also can support DVD players for some of my older games.

You need an E-ATX compatible case with the correct size for stand-offs. Maybe you wanna check out Corsair's line up.

Nice! Yeah I have the v1 and it works... But is quite complicated in some ways. They fixed all the problems I ha e with this on the v2 which is why I know I can suggest that one. I know the day is coming, but I am going to be sad when I move away from this case.
