Yes! Such a funny book, and one of the books that really got me into reading.  The other was Heart of Darkness because it just connected with me for some reason.

I'm too busy now to keep up with anything dense so I'm reading the ASOIAF novels again...maybe TWOW will come out one day.

I like reading game guides. I know it sounds weird, but I do. I like self help books too. I have a huge book called "Windows 10 in depth". Will take me forever to read it's so big. LOL.

If you liked Confederacy of Dunces and don't have the time/energy for dense material I highly recommend Robert Bevan. It's lowbrow humor but very well written. The Ghost of Hooker Alley is one of his latest ones and I laughed coffee out of my nose while reading it :) He's a very good author, crude and twisted in a funny way and unapologetic about it.

currently reading The Expanse books, Just started with Leviathan Wakes... I'm enjoying it so far. Some high profile authors (George RR Martin comes to mind) love them.

I started reading it because the show of the same name got me interested. It's changed a few things from the books -- some for the better actually and a few for the worse.

I usually read non-fiction, self improvement type books but the show got me wanting to read them.

Patricia McKillip - 3 in one edition of "The Riddle-Master of Hed" trilogy will be the first hardbound book I manage to wear out, closely followed by Mercedes Lackey 3-in-one editions of the "Vanyel" and the "Arrows of the Queen" trilogies from her Valdemar series.
I suspect "Mote in God's Eye" will be the first "single novel" hardback I wear out - I've already worn out *2* paperback copies of that - though some of the early David Weber "Honorverse" series are starting to argue that one, and "Guns of the South" by Turtledove might get into that competition.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

I'm into scape sci-fi. Isaac Asimov - foundation trilogy is probably my favorite. Star wars took a thing or two from there.

Star Wars was a tribute to Space Opera in general, with more than a few nods to other parts of Science Fiction.

That is true. From Foundation they took Corusant, the planet covered with one big city. There it was called Trantor. There were numerous other things too.

Don't read much these days.  I spend hours a day reading through legal opinions and documents and just do not have the desire to read for pleasure the way I used to as a result.  Having said that, my favorite was without a doubt Shogun by James Clavell.  This is the one prior movie/miniseries i really want to see remade, the 1980 miniseries did not do the book justice, and I am sure that a remake would fall short as well, but I would still love to see it.

Edit:  Appears that FX is working on an adaptation.  Article I read discussed a number of the issues of producing an authentic experience whilst filming in Japan.  High hopes for this one.

I like "My Family and other animals"

As for Ready Player One it's a book worth reading. The movie didn't do it justice at all and most of the movie is totally different from the books.
