Please move if in the wrong section. What are the chances EVGA could repair my 980ti Hybrid? Or have a spare one kicking about in B-stock or an old RMA they want to let go of? EVGA products have been pretty solid for me over the years meaning I've never had to make an RMA. But sod's law being what it is, my 980ti Hybrid decided to blow a driver today (pictured) at a time when GPU's are a bit thin on the ground in the UK, leaving me without a working PC. I'm quite attached to this card (sad git) so it would be great if I could just get this one fixed or swapped until the GPU market improves next year.

When did you purchase the card, and did you happen to get the extended warranty? If you are in warranty by any small chance, EVGA should be able to replace the card at least. I don’t know if they will have the same model exactly, but they should be able to help at least.
As for repairs, I don’t think EVGA offers repairs anymore.

Yeah, warranty is long gone That Murphy's law again; when you have it, you don't need it and when you need it, you don't have it. I was casting an eye over some of their EU B-stock, maybe on the off chance of picking up a replacement, but can't do that either (Zombie site). Bad time for this to happen. Be great if they still did, or knew of someone who could repair this one. Worth a punt.

They will not fix it and it's not worth it as the cost vs a new card is kinda meh or buy a 1080 or a 2000 series card, it really depends on what you want to spend and the performance you are going for. A 3000 series card will give the best performance upgrade and you can get a 10 year warranty for it too but the cost and availability might be a problem. I'd buy a cheap card for now and get a card that will fill your needs later (the cheap card is a nice backup just in case).

It's the sentimental side of me that would like to try and fix this card more than anything. I'm a sucker for keeping old things going. I have been looking at grabbing a "cheap" 2060S or 2070 back up card, as you kindly mention, problem is limted stock isn't unique to the 30 series at the moment.

It's probably not going to happen at this point, I'd throw it in a case and turn it into a collectors item :)

I guess it could be stuck in resin cast too? That might look really professional!

Thanks I mailed EVGA UK/EU a few days ago, heard nothing back yet. I'm sure it's a busy time for them at the moment. Card wise, well I'm still down. Tried hunting for something, but stock is non existent and the 2nd hand prices are just insane at the moment. Hopefully I'll get something sorted before Xmas, even if it means having a go at swapping the VRMS out myself just to tide me over.... famous last words.

I'd look into a RTX 2070, the non-Super variant. Seems to be the only one that isn't ridiculously priced on the mid-upper range tier. If you are okay with the performance of a GTX 980Ti, you actually have a lot of options on video cards. I'd suggest starting at the GTX 1660 Super. Here is a pretty good review to get you an idea of where the performance sits compared to a GTX 980Ti https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_geforce_gtx_1660_super_gaming_x_review,12.html As you can see, even a GTX 1060 is much faster. Second-hand those GPU's are about $100.

2070 & 2070 Supers are all but extinct in the UK. Where available they are asking 3080 money. Same for the 2060 and 2060S; either 80-90% of 3070 money or slightly over. All of them holding well on the 2nd hand market. If I'm going to spend that money I might as well jump on a vapourware 30 series....anyway, moving on lol. I'll have a look into the 1660, see what's going on there. Mad times, I was quite happy to hold off until next year, but good old hybrid decided otherwise. Thanks for the suggestions

Ask all the retro hardware and gamer folk that very same question.
