It would appear that due to threats Elon Musk has been making along with temporally shutting down the Twitter HQ the end of a era may finally be coming to a close. After nearly 14 years Twitter actually might be getting shut.

I hope he loses everything. He has been messing with the market for so long, it would be incredible to see him go down in flames because he thought it would be funny to act like he was going to buy twitter, and then got forced to go through with the purchase because he wanted to back out..

Funny the board talked about installing a poison pill into the market to block him from being able to take control, and then when he finally became the owner, he was the poison pill. Get rekt.

It does absolutely suck what is happening to his employees, but I hope their contracts were clear enough that they can take everything from him.

The very fact he was unable to crash and burn all his other businesses however was able to finally and slowly do that to Twitter is beyond disgusting. Elon Musk has become Trump 2.0 and it's not a pretty sight to see at all.

Musk is utterly broke, and their businesses quietly face a variety of scandals and fraud charges.
It is really interesting how long someone can keep their head above water.
With the solar roof fraud charges, the scandal about charging US tax payers a hugely inflated fee for the "free" Starlink internet they gave to Ukraine, the warning that SpaceX will go bankrupt if they don't hit a schedule this year (which they haven't hit), all the lies and failure to meet SpaceX goals on the backs of US tax payers, the hyperloop fiasco and lies, buying twitter with money from Tesla which he doesn't have, and with him losing 10B dollars per month due to advertisers not trusting his actions and causing Twitter to be a hostile platform, you wonder how long the show will go on.

Thing is I think Twitters employees with a great resume are likely the first ones out the door when Musk said it’s going to be an extreme work focus job now and laid off half of the staff. Twitter had already fallen behind of the likes of Facebook and I am not sure it kept the staff to make itself better. Also the news about Twitter has hurt advertising which is the lifeblood of a social media company.

I will say if Twitter does go under, which will probably happen soon, it's going to cause one of the biggest disruptions in the social media sphere. No other social media service has really been able to rival other platforms or unite people, especially companies, as much as Twitter has. So in essence Elon is playing with fire and it'll(all those various companies) burn him big time if he's not careful.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Twitter isn't going anywhere.  Yesterday they hit an all time usage high. Just imagine thinking that it would just "break", be unfix-able and everyone would just shrug their shoulders and it would just disappear.  Absolute comedy.

Creating an actual neutral platform where people can have discussions without politicians and corporate interests controlling the narrative is bringing people back.  Even the people that are complaining about leaving twitter aren't leaving (lol). All the noise you are hearing is coming from the top of a certain political party because their one-way megaphone toy finally broke and they are mad (hence all the main stream media hit pieces that all of a sudden came out in the last 6 months - most all of them eventually debunked btw).

Twitter was in such bad shape financially and would have had to undertake layoffs regardless of Musk. Next you will see him move the corp offices outside of California which will be a good thing.  $43 billion is a mere drop in the bucket for what is the equivalent of a modern day town square, on top of everything else that will be built out in conjunction with Twitter 2.0 and restructuring.  Twitter will eventually get relisted and I am absolutely positive will have over a $1Trillion market cap.  So many whales were trying to make secret deals behind the scenes of the buyout because they all know this.

Musk will go down as being a once in a lifetime visionary somewhere between the likes of Einstein and Henry Ford, probably bigger. Avoid all the smoke and mirrors that is happening out there.

One way megaphone? That is just untrue. And Musk, is the likes of Einstein and Henry Ford? I don't think so. The only thing he did was contract a price that was twice Twitter was worth. That was a sloppy business decision, and he still regrets it.

Once that delusion expires, he will go down in history as one of the biggest scam artists of this era. Each time he is caught, I don't know why the law goes so easy on him. Must be that perk of being rich. Hardly something to idolize.

Forums are a type of social media…

As for Twitter it’s not about users that keeps it alive it’s about the advertising. Twitter could be doomed if enough bad press pulls advertising away.

Twitter is full of bots to sway public opinion. No real loss if it turns into myspace.

advertisers arn't going to pull anything, they don't care who buy's their products, well not the successful compaines anyway, you think Microsoft cares if a Neo Nazi uses Windows? Nah they want that 110 bucks, they dont care, same as they don't care if a communist uses it.

Is that why Musk lost $10billion in a month due to advertisers leaving Twitter?

"Advertisers are dropping Twitter. Musk can’t afford to lose any more.
More than a third of Twitter’s top 100 clients have not advertised on the platform in the past two weeks, data shows
Dozens of top Twitter advertisers, including 14 of the top 50, have stopped advertising in the few weeks since Musk’s chaotic acquisition of the social media company, according to The Post’s analysis of data from Pathmatics, which offers brand analysis on digital marketing trends."

What's going to likely accelerate the loss Of advertisers isn't just cause of Musk, but now cause of him reinstating Kanye's account. Not a whole lot of advertisers are going to want to stick around with scum like him on Twitter.

Some of the people who say they will leave I would help them pack and drive them to the air port.

He's a scam artist, rich, privileged, liar. It's hard to like him.

I looked into it and it seems like half of the top 100 advertisers have abandoned Twitter.

The other problem is Twitter would have to reinvent itself but I question if it has the staff to do more than just maintain at this point.

I wouldn't worry because having all angles of conversations/debates will create lots of buzz instead of being a one sided sideshow.  They'll come running back when the time arises and the same for those that feel a sense of FOMO after having left.
