Both the ASUS Tuf and MSI Gaming RTX 4090s are back in stock at Newegg as of me typing this.

I still haven't seen anything except the extreme 1000+ markup stuff at newegg, but BestBuy did just briefly have the two MSI cards in stock.  I debated it for a minute but based on the horror stories I've read here about MSI support I decided to pass.  I guess I'm looking for FE, maybe Asus, or maybe Zotac?  Really not sure who to look for.  Whatever I get is going to get a block put on it, but decent aesthetics would still be nice for future resale.

Try filtering so show only items sold by Newegg and Zotac. That eliminates all the Chinese scalper garbage. Though both of the cards I posted above are now gone again.

I was completely right saying that 4090 is not overpriced.

Jen-Hsun is not pedal to the metal greedy, as he could hit $1,999 for starting price and would be still selling cards like hot cakes.
For some reason galloping inflation was not embedded into a price.
It looks to me that AIBs have chance to get some money in their pocket too.

No let's be honest here, it is absolutely overpriced. Just because I bought one doesn't mean they are a good deal. I am in a fortunate position in my life that I can afford a stupid purchase like this (because let's be real here that's what this is: a stupid purchase) and in no one's mind is $1599 starting MSRP considered a "good deal" for a gaming GPU.

Well, thing is that stupid purchase (agree with you) is extravagant luxury, not necessity.
My point is that, as far as demand overrun supply, there is no overpricing.

As fresh retiree, I could call myself a financially secured (a fortunate position) but refuse to buy overpriced things (a single tomato on farmers market priced $2, (that is overpriced) Have no problem to pay $45 for Angus filet mignon steak as I consider as fair price.

So, I just don't buy overpriced stuff.
But that's just my 2 cents.

I'm sure next year when they release the RTX 4090 Ti and it's fully enabled 18k core AD102 die we'll see the return of the $1999 MSRP for that if not $2099 MSRP if they bump it by $100 USD as they did with the 4090 vanilla.

I'll wait for 4080 16GB.

I'm considering getting one of those as well.

Yes, 3090 was priced $1,499, and 3090Ti $1,999 six month later. Performance gain was roughly 10-12%.
Your projected calculation looks on spot, but 4090 Ti should be unmatched performance Nvidia flagship.

Let's hope that AMD can pull a competitive miracle that should prevent setting a price bar to high.

I do not plan to buy 8K display (as my sore eyes couldn't benefit), so will settle with 4080 16GB.

The RTX 3090 Ti wasn't released till 6 months ago, a full year and a half after the RTX 3090 vanilla. As for the RTX 4080 16GB I'm sure that'll be overkill for games too.

Only reason I'm even considering a 4090 over the 4080 is for driving VR headsets, especially in MSFS 2020.  Maybe it's still overkill though I don't know.  I just know some popular MSFS YouTube channels especially for VR were having problems getting good performance with the current high res HMD's even with a 3090 or maybe 3090Ti.  So I don't know how a 16GB 4080 will compare with the large reduction in CUDA cores vs the 4090.

My bad, was thinking 3090 September, and 3090Ti March, (missed a whole year LOL)

Well yeah MSFS 2020 is very heavy but it's really not that heavy on the GPU, it's the CPU. The game still to this day doesn't really scale well beyond 4 cores. The problem sounds systemic in the game engine in that it would probably require an entire rendering engine rewrite to make effective use of multicore CPUs.

There are plenty of straight GPU bound options though that would benefit from a faster GPU and they're continuously optimizing the engine so it's definitely getting better on CPU usage.  I was just thinking as you crank the resolution up like in some of those new 8-12K headsets that are out or coming out, that the GPU might be much more noticeable, but also I have other non flightsim stuff for VR as well so it's not just MSFS I'm thinking of.  Just PC VR in general.

Oh I'm not denying that it's not heavy on the GPU but the game doesn't scale as well even with the RTX 4090 as it does with CPUs that just have more single core performance. Take a look, the RTX 4090 as impressive as it is, is only scoring 77 avg FPS at 4K in MSFS2020.

Yeah I saw that last night.  What MSFS really needs for benchmarking though is for in cockpit benchmarks especially with the super high end 3rd party addon aircraft from companies like PMDG and Fenix.  That's where the impact or lack of one from something like a 4090 would really show since those aircraft tend to be much heavier on CPU due to all the background systems modeling.  Though, the Fenix product actually sort of runs externally which is a bit of a bonus since the hardcore systems modeling is not being run by the sim's processes.  Still, while 77 doesn't sound much, it's 35% more almost than the 3090Ti on the same system and settings.  Though FWIW he was also using a 7950X for the benchmarks.

We're finally getting close to barely perceivable stutters at 4K.  Until the games become more realistic and requires better hardware...  VR is a different story.  LOL

I wish VR headsets would show this type of tech improvements.  Need better displays, wireless, and a card that can drive it.

Anyone have any opinions on Zotac?  I found one reputable reseller that is currently taking pre-orders for the 1650 priced OC model.  Kinda debating it.

Solid brand, no complaints. Have used a bunch of their cards over the years. Would have easily picked one of them over my MSI had they been available when I ordered. Those however went out of stock nearly instantly.

Same as CraptacularOne....I preferred eVGA cards (when they were around), but Zotac was used a few times and never had an issue with them

Still, 'Seems like they are opening up the faucet slowly, with less Scalper pressure this time , I still hope those who are trying to Scalp these cards get it broke off in their tailpipe. Day after launch the eBay numbers are way down from the 3080. Guess we will see how fast they resupply, even late last night there were cards sitting in Microcenters. I hope I don't regret having had several in my cart doesn't come back to haunt me. Lol

Second day and scalpers price reached $5,000.
If this looks like less Scalper pressure, check the eye vision

I did not say there weren't stupid people in the world, but there was 1200+ 3080s on day after launch on ebay, today there are 200 4090s, And, there are cards right now at a loss starting bid with 0 bids, It's not perfect but it's way different. There was a good 30 + minute window you could put most anything in your cart yesterday.

At about 1:35pm today I had an MSI 4090 Gaming Trio in my cart at Amazon and was able to get to the final place order page, then back in and out a couple times.  I'm pretty sure I could have placed the order.  However, it was supposedly for delivery in the 3rd week of November.  Amazon was the vendor and the price was $1650.

Where did you see them on Amazon?  I haven't found any (searching for RTX 4090 brings up 3000 series stuff).  3rd party or official seller?

3080's were $1200 until Feb '21 then they got more expensive.

Couple seconds missed 4090 cards in Best Buy minutes ago.
There was Nvidia FE, MSI, and Gigabyte cards all MSRP prices.
I was so close, BB checked my location and account, sent me a code, I typed a code and seconds later >nothing in my basket >> SOLD - popped up.
 EDIT: BB had also
MSI - 4090 SUPRIM LIQUID X  at MSRP price.

Yeah the bots are all out in full effect, which I'm not surprised about.

I am a bit surprised Newegg has not done any Shuffles yet.

First they are rolling out their crappy bundle "deals" in order to clear out more inventory.

what's different now? scalpers be scalping but...miners aren't buying all the cards at any price. so i expect the scalpers will be losing their shirts after a few production runs. be patient.
