Hey guys I have evga GTX 670 2GB(2670) I bough it recently from a friend, The card runs great with older games but it’s not stable with the newer ones..The problem is I get random black screens without any sound forcing me to restart the PC and it’s just frustrating sometimes I get Nvidia driver crashing to desktop while gaming..
The crash usually happens with higher resolutions 1600x1200+
And higher clocks like 1045.2Mhz or more specifically on boost mode
And it seems like underclocking to 980Mhz or less prevents the card from crashing and also lowering the power target by 80% have the same result (No crashing)
The weird thing is my card temperature maximum is 80C and rarely reach 82C so its not overheating since the fan doesn’t get louder after the crash
And It’s not overclocked or anything like that
So what’s the problem? Is it a faulty card?
Could the card overclock itself because it have enough power?

Any advice I will appreciate it :)
Thanks
And please forgive me for my poor english it’s not my native language.

    Anyone? Please?...
If that helps my games are:
-stable at 80% power target anything more then that will make games crash after a few minutes.
-The crash happens always with high GPU loads/usage 89%-99%.
-Some games are stable at 100% power target.
-Sometimes I get “Display driver stopped working and has recovered”.

Unfortunately I can’t do that, I don’t have access to another computer to test it but my friend who I bought the card from told me he had the same issue and he assumed that it’s a problem with his PSU.
Anyway I flashed the Bios(I downloaded it from here
And after testing it I was able to play “Rise of the tomb raider” for an hour without any crashing even with default Power target..But I think I need to test it again just to make sure.

    Update:
After a lot of trying all kinds of solutions I ran out of ideas
So I started to monitor my GPU while gaming using GPU-Z and I dumped log file
It showed that the power consumption is 88-89 watt while playing | Mortal Kombat X | high to medium settings on a 1440x900/60Hz resolution
is 88 watt while gaming normal? should it be at least 120 or something?

PS: I understand that my card is old and no one cares about anymore but I do care, help me solving this issue
    Thanks.

    Write down, your PC-spec.

Thanks for your attention...My pc is not a pure |gaming pc| by the way
    Ok here you go

    CPU : INTEL Core i3 2120 3.3 GHz Intel i5-2400 3.10GHz(No OC)

    MB : DELL M5DCD

    RAM : 6GB
    Samsung 2GB DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz
    Kingston 4GB DDR3 RAM 1333MHz

    VGA : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 2GB (2670)

    SOUNDCARD :

    STORAGE :
    HDD Hitachi SATA Drive HDS721050CLA362 500GB (C:)
HDD Western Digital WD10EAR 1TB (DATA)

    Cooling: Air
120mm Front INTAKE: Brushless DC 12V Cooling Fan Delta AFC1212DE
    92mm   Rear EXHAUST: 3-Pin 12V Cooling Fan Delta DSB0912M

    PSU : Thermaltake TR2 700W Gold

    OS : Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64Bit

    Additional information:
-Lowering power target by 80% is not working any more
So I had to under clock by -65 (1045-65=980mhz) to make games stable again.
-Some games stopped crashing after rolling back nvidia driver to 362.00.
    -Boost clock is not stable.
-AA is not working jagged lines are all over the place in all games No matter how hard I tried, I need to max resolution(above my native resolution) to make the picture decent.
