Oh I assumed since you were here with EK you worked for EK and were located with them. Hence the thought you had them on hand or at least the model used in a light box for the pre order news release and the store page. Oh well it appears the 60* will work out pretty dang good by holding them up against my side window "GUESSING" where the G1/4 ports will line up in relation to my current 290X. Should look much better then what I have going on currently anyway with a 45* from my gpu block to a straight in my Kryo M.2 ssd block in a tight space.

I worked for them but i'm not located in Slovenia.

Worked? No longer working for EK?

Side note tomorrow will officially be day 3 after my estimated ship date for my FTW block and backplate. Yet the store pages for both have gone from Pre-order to limited quantities/in stock. :-( Would have been nice for them to ship out pre-orders prior to actually posting stock for sale in the store. Doesn't make much sense. At least ship the pre orders the same day the product goes live for those who haven't pre-ordered. I'm thinking their whole business model is jacked across the pond. This rate I can order in the states from Performance-PCS before they actually ship my pre-order and save on shipping at least if this keeps up.

Oups, wrong tenses

I still work for them lol.

About your order, this isn't normal.  We always ship the pre-order first.  You haven't received any shipment notice yet?

If you haven't, I would contact the shipping dept.  On your order, you should have an email address to contact them.

Ah ok.

I would have thought those that put up funds first would have had their orders heading out the door prior to stock going live in the store. :-( No shipment notice yet. Status on my order page shows "Processing" Has since I placed the order on 9-5. I'll look for the shipping dept email. I clicked the support image at the bottom of ekwb.com this morning and got a prompt reply stating they started shipping on 9-15 and are heading out in the order they were placed. Which I understand that. What I don't get is why it's taking so long if stock went live on the 14th yet all I have are crickets over here and a getting dusty still sealed GTX1080 FTW. :-(

Here is the prompt response from the support ticket I submitted:

"Hello,

Thank you for your order! Orders with a preorder for the GTX 1080 FTW waterblocks and backplates began shipping yesterday, September 15th, 2016. We are working diligently to get these orders out as quickly as possible, and the preorders are the first on the list to be shipped out in the order that they were placed!

Regards,
Jesse
EKWB US Support"

When I placed the order it had an estimated ship date of 9-14. It still states the same: "Estimated Shipping Date: 14 September 2016"

Dear Michael,
Thank you for your reply.

Your order #******** is still in processing because it is missing the EK-FC1080 GTX FTW Backplate - Black which we will receive back in stock on Friday, the 23rd of September 2016 and that's also when your order will be shipped out.

I apologize for the delay, we are having some problems with our suppliers, who don't provide enough materials for the higher number of orders, which we are dealing with now.
Best regards, Miha PFFTT SMH. Performance-PCS put their order in after my Pre-order which they told me they kept trying to place an order and EK kept cancelling it. This is how I know my order was in before theirs. Yesterday I got word from Per-PCS that their order will be delivered next Mon-Tues all while mine won't even ship until the 23rd. Yep this makes a ton of sense. Notice my previous post from support stating orders are shipped in the order they are received. SMH yep sure looks like it.

I'm half tempted to cancel my EK order and jump on Performance-PCS. I'll save on shipping and it will probably get here in the same amount of time. Funny how they don't have stock until the 23rd yet the shop shows "Limited Quantity!" Last time I checked Limited Quantity means you have stock but not many. Guess it means something different over the pond. Since the 14th the shop has shown back and forth "In Stock" and "Limited Quantity!" for both the nickel/acetel block and the black backplate. Currently they both show Limited Quantity. Frankly pre-orders should have been filled prior to anyone being able to order in the shop. That is what a pre-order is. Again maybe across the pond they interpret things differently. Who knows. This has changed my thoughts on ordering direct with EK in the future though that's for sure. To think it's the first time ordering from them also.

Goes right along with the paper launch of the FE card only it's a paper launch of a waterblock and backplate for and extremely popular card.

Hmmm told them how I didn't like the way my order was being treated and somehow I have my shipment on it's way to me 3 days earlier. I should have complained earlier I would probably have it by now. It's not right for pre-orders to be passed up for live orders. The term is after all "PRE-ORDER"! Scenario was going right along with the FE paper launch though I mean! LOL

Well... There is a way!
A month ago, i fitted a EK-FC780 GTX Classy block on mine with paste and 0.5 mm pads. Works like a charm.

Doing Arma 3 on Ultra (1080p - 60hz), temp will reach 45c max in heavy loads with fans at around 1000-1200 rpm in a small room with temp around 24-26c. But descends to sub-40's during regular gameplay.
Battlefield 4 and 1, all ultra, never reaches 40c.

OH, i nearly forgot, i used 1mm pad for the vrm's.

Just wanted to verify that you used .5mm pads for the mem and 1.mm pads for the vreg?

Cause you mentioned the GPU chip was lower and you used thinner sized pads to make better contact with the gpu.

The instruction show the pads that are included with the 780 classy block are .5mm for the vmem and 1.mm for the vreg.

Just wondering if you got confused with the numbering in the picture as it shows 1 on the mem and 2 on the vreg or you in fact used other different thermal pads to shorten the height?

Glad I got my 2 in quick.. was only 3 left of the plex version.Been wanting to order them for a week now but trying to figure out other items to add to the order. Noticed while standing in microcenter exchanging my mb. :0

Only 1 block ea left in stock at performance-pcs.

That's for the 780 classified block that seems like a match.

Nice.. where did ya end up ordering youra at?

Update on mine..

I managed to successfully install the ek 780 classy block on the 1080 classified. All lined up good but boy was I nervous and checked the clearance of everything over and over.

Note you'll have to remove the backplate fully and the card bracket to get the heatsink off. There's 3 tiny black screws above ea display port and hdmi port that you'll surely miss and will hold you up.

Used the pads as instructed that come with the block. The .5mm on the mem and I cut 2 rows of the 1mm for the vreg. Could of just left it as one pad but since they show to rows of pads I cut it in half. Ek is nice enough to give you double the pads then you need!

The problem I had was getting the original 1080 classified back plate on and screwed into the block. Ain't gona happen with the block screws. The heads on the screws are too wide to fit down into the deep holes made for the original skinnier screws. Even if one could the backplate is threaded for skinnier screws. Can't use the original screws threw the backplate and into the block cause the block threads are much larger so they won't catch the threads.

The block does come with some different sized screws but nothing that will work with the back plate.

I guess I should of spent 60+ more and ordered the back plates but was afraid it may be a waste if there was different components on the backside that may touch the 780 back plate so I said screw it since the one guy said he managed to make it work with the 1080 screws?

Personally I could care less cause I have a horizontal mb so I'm not gona see the backside anyways but most people would.

Also when I removed the backplate I was surprised to see a lot of Flux on the backside around the power connections and vreg which tells me the backside is getting quite toasty as I'm prob better off with the back plate off for better cooling.

Oh yeah I forgot one important note.. you must remove the sticky back black washers from the backside of the card where you need to screw in the fatter block screws since the black washers are way smaller then the fat screws you'll be using.. so if you can't get your screw threw the holes.. that's why. Use your finger nail to tear up the sticky back black washers.

Save those black washers from the card and all the original screws in a zip lock and keep them in the original box just encase you need to put the original heatsink back on later for resale or rma.

So if your he'll bent on using the original backplate with this block you'll have to hunt for longer screws that will sit flush on the backplate with the heads above the screw hole well. You'll also probably need to bore out the threads on the back plate getting the fatter screws threw it. Working it back and forth slowly enlarging the backplate threads.

Oh the block did come with 4 longer screws but you'll need 11 total to get this block flat to even the pressure out on the mem and vreg.

Still have no idea how that one guy in here got the back plate on unless he mounted it well above the card with the backplate resting on top of the screw heads and just used a bolt and nut on ea end of the plate that didn't go into the block.

Anyways.. it will be a few days I bet atleast till I get this rig up and runing to test how she cools.. I've got the other card to do still and ive gota remove the existing cooling and pc parts and slap in the new build and cooling. I'm sure it will be a week with me hehe.

First pls understand me and try to catch up everything what I want to say/explain, because my native language is Polish but many years live in abroad.... EOS
About EKWB
My order was placed 21Sep16, on they website is 1-3 days processing time to complete shipping. I think this will be finish today and finally posted to me to start working with :)
About You - AHowes:
Your explain how to get this to work is great! Great detailed information about mounting ekwb.
Since using few years ekwb, I have some spare screws in my pc screw-case :) maybe some of them will match with evga backplate.
I have not enough time to do everything what I want with my PC. I have beast close to my desk and no time to play on. My little son (1.5y old) want me to put him all the time when Im sitting, playing, onto desk to give him some lovely time to play with game boxes on my shelves :)
I have time to do something when he gone sleep :)
Then I can do some modding or playing on my computer.
Next 2 weeks will be good 4me.

Brutus, I'm just happy it fits!! Haha

I did take hours shining a bright flashlight between the block and card to make sure everything is making solid contact and nothing else that should not isint.

The nice thing is that the other custom 1080 large water blocks from ek look the same as this one so most likely if ek would of made the new 1080 classified it most likely would look and fit the same as the 780 classy. :)

Yeah I've got a 7 and a 11 year old that keep me busy when they get out of school and the wife is dragging me along on her days off. :/ it's ruff and a lot of late nights! Haha

Here's what I blew hours (2 days total) and another trip to the local microcenter for more fittings for.

I needed to connect both large EK-CoolStream XE 360 (60mm thick) rads together at the bottom of the case and I wanted a drain port there as well and the fittings giving me the ability to lift the bottom rad so I can clean themail of dust in the future. Not a small task but damn did I get lucky! The 45 fittings rotate so I can easily lift the rad to get to the under side. Also the fans are not screwed on to the rad. The fans are attached to the removable fan mount on the underside. Super lucky.. and it was a total hail Mary for those fittings to line up and work.

Now to remove everything to vacuum out the 2 years worth of dust and do a quick rinse of the rads and reinstall and get to adding the new hardware and lines.

Note: my case is a thermaltake core x9. Would love a reason to stack 2 but can't justify it. :/

I will try to put 1080 classy backplate together with ekwb. I have some extra screws from some previous ekwblocks.
