Hey guys, wondering if someone can help me answer this question.
I am looking at buying a second hand EVGA GTX590 but the guy has lost the receipt.
Would the limited lifetime warranty still be applicable?
I know that if you register an EVGA card without a receipt the warranty period is taken from the date the
product left the warehouse but wasn't sure what the deal is with the Limited Lifetime warranty.

Thanks in advance

    No receipt no warrenty
The card MUST be registered in 30 days of purchase -and- the receipt uploaded to EVGA....

If this was not done and it cannot be verified, there is ZERO warranty on the card.
Take that into account if you decide to buy it.....

"I know that if you register an EVGA card without a receipt the warranty period is taken from the date the
    product left the warehouse"
    That is completely INCORRECT
The warranty is only good from the date of purchase on the uploaded receipt.
    No purchase receipt, no warrenty

This was taken directly from the Asia Pacific Warranty page?
    http://au.evga.com/support/warranty/
"For users without a valid invoice, or users that have not purchased from an authorized reseller, the warranty begins from the date the product was shipped from EVGA’s warehouse. Registration is recommended."

That also depends upon where the item was originally purchased. So for example if you buy a 2nd hand EVGA card from someone in Europe and it stays in Europe and it was registered then the 2nd buyer should have the standard 2 year warranty as required by E.U. law.

    Post in the Warranty section

I warn you, EVGA has changed some warrenty policies in the last year, BUT THEY ONLY apply to cards purchased -and- registered after a certain date.

If you buying the card -used- from someone else and they do NOT have a receipt, you should just assume that you do NOT have a warranty of anykind.

Looking at your hardware sig, you have a 4gig 680 and a Catleap
Why on earth would you buy a GTX 580? it only has 1.5g VRAM... the Catleap will puke on it
Another 4g GTX 680 would be the correct path to take bro

I had a GTX580 in it but I sold it and I can probably pick up a GTX590 for the same price so why not?

There seems to be too much conflicting stuff about EVGA warranties so I just wanted some definitive answers,
was hoping an EVGA employee may give a solid answer.

July 1st 2011, Anything after that date you get the 3 Year warranty starting when the card left the warehouse. That is it, nothing else.

Anything before that date, YOU personally get no warranty. All warranty work would need to be taken care of by the original owner. As the warranty belongs to the original owner and is not tranferable. If he never uploaded his receipt, he as well, has no warranty.

Re:Warranty for Second Hand Cards 2013/02/26 07:27:58 (permalink)
There's some misinformation in this thread.

OP - you are correct that we do offer warranty to anyone with an EVGA product, as long as it was shipped from EVGA on or after 7/1/2011. You don't even need an invoice for the first three years (there are some exceptions, see terms).

If you have an extended warranty, this is only available to the original owner, and if you want to warranty based on your date of purchase you'll need to have an invoice (sometimes a card will stay on the shelf for a while, and those months can matter).

Have the seller put the serial number in here: http://www.evga.com/Support/guestregister.asp and have him screenshot it. That will show you have much, if any, warranty is left.

Thanks EVGA for officially clearing that up, it's funny how some people will post all kinds of misinformation as fact, and screw up someone's day... and then never apologize for it

I'm curious why you decided to reopen a 4 year old thread rather than post a new one. However the guest RMA plan was designed for 2nd hand EVGA cards. You can find this info here: http://www.evga.com/support/warranty/
