Can anyone tell me how did I band those CPU socket pins with protective cover. Is it even possible? I just learned that my RMA was reject ed because this. Be careful.

Why did you have to RMA in the Frist Place?

My motherboard, or my power supply provide low voltage to my SATA powered device after PC shut off. I was forced to use ErP option in BIOS to turn of my fans and leds. I am still investigating this but EVGA support concluded, that this probably is a bad motherboard. Other than that my PC runs great on full load, during video editing and video games. Just bad luck I guess. Thank you for asking.

Thanks startekselva for your kind offer. I will try to fix ti myself. I watched a few videos on u tube and if pins are not broken I will band them back to their original position.
I see that probably happen. Socket is in shape of rectangle and this stupid "protection cover" is a rectangle too and has four tiny legs. Rotated 90 deg from what should be and tiny legs landed when my banded pins are. EVGA designed perfect trap for their users. No instruction how to install this "pins smasher" was provided. Warranty is over and I stick with damaged motherboard, without accessories witch should come with it + full price for second board.
    Happy Easter everybody.

Never seen that before. EVGA didn't design LGA2066 cover, it is standard LOTES part, sold to many X299 customers in hundreds of thousands. It's fully symmetric and can be installed in either 0 degree or 180 degree orientation. Usual process - install cover when lid is open, make sure it's latched to lid correctly, close the lid. Nothing touches pins, as it's designed that way. When you install CPU, you put chip in socket, close the ILM lid (with cover still in place), and after you lock socket lid, cover pops out :).

For what it's worth, If you have macro closeup on pins , I can help you tell if they are important or not for function.

I will check it out, when I will receive damaged motherboard. Don't you think that little instruction will be helpful? Processor was marked with arrow and this was obvious to me, how to install it. Is no instruction how to replace battery in manual and I replaced two. So when EVGA said that this not happen very often, is clear to me that they are full off something.

I can tell you this from personal experience and I HAD pictures of my MB socket before I turned it in...
I had an an original EVGA Dark running a 4820k. I went through a few RMAs with bad boards but on my last one it died as soon as I plugged the CPU in. I did take pictures before I plugged it in and before I RMA'ed it. BUT when I RMA'ed I received an email saying I sent the board back with bad pins... The long and the short of it is I lost the battle of the pictures of theirs vs. mine. I still buy EVGA MBs as this was the first and ONLY time I have every gotten grief, BUT it taught me to be EXTRA, EXTRA careful when dealing with them, let along inserting my CPUS... You can find many complaints on this board about warranty rejections because of pins and trust me its NEVER their fault. I still love and use EVGA extensively as I have a Dark X299, 2980Ti, PSU and AIO etc. ALL theirs, BUT I am cautious from now on.
