Is there a for sure solution to get wake on LAN on the EVGA FTW3 X58 board?  I don't know why EVGA would leave a feature like that off.

I am specifically needing it to use with LogMeIn.

Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

This is odd, I use LogMeIn with my other computer(x58) in another state and I can wake it up just fine.

Yea Wake on LAN has to be enabled in the BIOS.  My Rampage II EE has the feature but I dont see it in my FTW3 BIOS.  I did read a thread about using a third party software but have been unable to find anyone saying that it actually worked.

Actually I have a x58 SLi version, but by default I'm guessing it was on cause I didn't even know something like that was in bios. Hopefully someone with the FTW model can help you out n find it.

What Im sayig is that there is not a wake on LAN setting in the BIOS.  I have read some other posts of members stating the same thing so I dont think Im just missing it.

Maybe the SLI version has it but the FTW3 does not.  Im kinda PO'd about this.  I assumed that this was a very common feature and would def be found on an EVGA X58 board.  Guess thats what I get for not checking.

Has anyone ever used ? (EZLAN/Magic Packet)

I doubt this will help the OP, being a few years hence, but for other poor schmos who stumble on this thread, here's my story...

I had to replace my SLI3 with a FTW-3 due to a certain hapless 4 year-old & a glass of water.  Honestly, with a Xeon x5680 OCd, it still runs competitively with more modern boards if you can afford to run at PCI2.0 video & use a bit more power.  Anyway, I use WoL religiously.  When I went to configure the WoL on this board, I was also surprised to see the BIOS fields missing.  I couldn't believe they would take this feature off, so I contacted support and got this:

"Thank you for contacting EVGA. From what I could find, in your BIOS go to Power Management Setup and make sure that both Wake up by PCI card and PWRON after PWR-fail are enabled. After both are enabled, you should be able to enabled Wake on LAN through your network settings in windows. Under Network Connections, right click the ethernet adapter and go to properties > configure > power management > then make sure that "allow this device to wake the computer" is checked. I believe the reason a WOL option is missing in the BIOS is because that function is mostly handled through windows for this board..."

Yes since most likely the nic is on the pic bus, I think it might be something with the realtek gbe as every board I have seen with Intel nic always had the wol setting in the bios, you still had to config it in windows to use the magic packet though.

Well the SLI3 and the FTW-3 both have Realtek onboard "GigaLAN", according to the manuals.  The SLI3 has the normal "enable/disable WOL" BIOS setting, the FTW-3 has the aforementioned strangeness.  I do agree they both require the OS setup (but eh.... don't they all??), so the statement from EVGA in that regard sounded like graspage.  Also, requiring one to power up after power failure to enable regular WOL is lameness, but I am on UPS so that doesn't affect me really.  At least it works.
