Hi,

I'd like to warn everyone about another horrifying bug I found in this trainwreck of the software.

If you update your nVidia drivers while Precision X1 is running, after the update finishes, your power target will be reset to min value (33%). So often you may find your GPU performing much worse than it should, only to find out that Precision X1 has reset your power target to one third of the TDP. It will also, as a bonus, reset your fan profile and disable the "Fan Curve Control" checkbox if it was enabled prior.

It's 100% reproducible on RTX2080Ti FTW3 Ultra on Windows 10 19044 with Precision 1.3.0

I am so frustrated I have to use this garbage just to prevent the clicking sounds from constantly starting and stopping fans on the RTX2080Ti FTW3 Ultra.

I'd suggest anyone to avoid EVGA GPUs in future. Do not make the mistake I did.

    It doesn't happen to mine.

It's unclear to me if you think the driver is a trainwreck or Precision X1 is...or both?

Regardless, I have no issues with my eVGA GPU. I use DDU (After booting into safe mode) before I install a new driver
and this doesn't happen to me.

They stated that this happens if you update the driver while Precision is running. This makes it sound like normal mode (not safe mode), an update (not uninstall and reinstall), and Precision task running.

Precision should be closed when updating drivers.

As a matter of fact, any GPU software should be closed while updating drivers. Why would you update a driver while the software is open? Would you update he driver while a game is running?

DCH drivers are absolute garbage, so I expect functionality problems like this to become the norm rather than the exception.
Anything with deep hooks into and/or co-dependent on Winduhz 10/11 development is going to be a steaming pile of dung.

Even when I forget to close PX1 (very rare) and update the GPU driver instead of using DDU (again, rare), I have not witnessed this on 2080Ti or 3070Ti FTW3 Ultras. Of course, I always reboot after a GPU driver update too.
I'm on Win11 now, but I don't remember seeing this ever before, honestly.

I thought that card has OC BIOS switch that -WILL- prevent fans from stopping at low temperatures. If I am not wrong and it really does have it you should check it out.

I made the mistake of updating drivers while precision was running and this indeed happened to me.  3080ti ftw 3 and i couldn't figure out for the life of my while all my games were running at around 35 fps.
