HI People;
I got this card last week and am very disappointed in using it to play Elite Dangerous. My GT 640 did not cause my ship to jerk around when flying. This card does that. How can a Gt 640 let my ship fly better than a more advanced video card? I spoke with EVGA tech support and the guy said that I cannot do any ultra settings. That is just wrong. I don't have any afterburner software installed. I put the ultra setting on high and still get some jerkiness. Very unsatisfied with this card.
Someone said that EVGA makes good video cards. Based on my use of this card in the game I play I am unhappy with my purchase and feel like I have been taken.
If anyone has a suggestion as to how to fix this without doing a lengthy process that I am not going to be able to follow, I'm all ears.
Thanks,
Mark

What are your full system specs? When you put the 640 back in everything runs fine?

My first suggestion would be to download a program called Display Driver Uninstaller, you can find it HERE. Before you run DDU, download the latest driver version from our website HERE and save the file on your computer. Install and run the Display Driver Uninstaller program and this usually fixes any driver related errors in case the 640 drivers are conflicting with your 1050 Ti.

Keep in mind that Elite Dangerous recommends a GTX 770 which is a slightly higher performer than a GTX 1050 Ti. Your system may struggle a bit if you are running settings that are too high for the hardware you have. If that is the case, it wouldn't matter what brand GTX 1050 Ti you have, you would still experience the same issue.

We do have the Step Up program if you are not satisfied with performance. This would allow you to move up to (for instance) a GTX 1060. This program is unique to EVGA and may be something you should consider. You can read the full terms of the Step Up here: https://www.evga.com/support/stepup/

Maybe now you are hitting a CPU bottle neck which can cause stuttering where your gt640 didn't. But it could ask be a driver issue like commented above if you just dropped the card in without removing drivers

Gotta find the perfect settings for your hardware. Pretty sure you weren't running high/ultra on your 640.

Gota list screen resolution and system specs.. my thoughts are its just the drivers. Use the ddu to flush the old drivers out before installing the other set of nvidia drivers.

If the newest 388.69 are still stuttering try an older set like 385.41 or 385.69 and see what happends since it's an older game..

Crap the older drivers prob won't work with the 1050ti since it's newer. :/

Also maybe he's not using v-sync and he's seeing tearing now as the card is runing much higher then 60hz of the moitor?

385.69 would work fine the 1050ti is older then the GTX 1080ti. Also where do I find 388.69 haven't seen mention of it anywhere but here. You can go all the way back to 376.33 on the 1050 ti http://www.nvidia.com/Dow.oad/Find.aspx?lang=en-us

According to Game Debate I can run this game on High Settings and I'm only looking at 1920x1080 @ 60Hz.
If using Windows 10, Game Mode helps. I have gotten a slight performance boost by employing Game Mode.

Markus54, you did mention that you are attempting to play on Ultra settings. I recommend that you lower the settings as this would likely be too high of a setting for your hardware. I would like to ask a few questions:

    1. What CPU do you have?
    2. Do lowering the game settings help?
    3. What settings did you use with the GT 640?

If you have a moment, please rate my service. We appreciate the feedback!

I have an HP 700-330qe. It has an i7-4790 3.6 GHz processor, 24 GB of ram. 2-Blu - ray players. The cpu is quick though fading as Intel comes out with faster and faster cpus. I have a 60Mb/s internet connection with a 5 Mb/s upload.

I did all of this stuff last night and I am in debug mode right now. I played the game and still have the jerky motion problem with this card. I didn't have this problem with my GT 640. Do what's wrong with the 1050 ti. It should be much better that the 640.

I have an intel i7 4790 3.6 GHz processor. It is a quick cpu.
I boosted some of the settings to Ultra. Then I noticed this problem. It shouldn't be happening. I spoke on the phone with tech support and they said to bring down the Ultra settings. Upon hearing this I was very disappointed with the card. I brought the settings down to high. I still have the problem.
GT 640 settings were at the default. Mostly high. Which tells me the 1050ti is a lousy card and a waste of my money!

The GT 640 was an OK card. I just wanted to get some better graphics like when doing planetary landings to see the detail of the planets. My 640 didn't have this jerky motion and if I put it back in I won't see the jerky motion. However, I need to find drivers for the card as I removed all of the drivers when I installed this 1050ti.

Yeah, I don't think that is going to happen. I just got this card a few days ago. I am retired and don't have a lot of money to invest in another card. What I do expect is this card working. It sounds like a scam to get more money out of me. Money I don't have. This card should be much better than my GT 640. I should be able to play Elite Dangerous with the settings in Ultra. It is up to EVGA to fix this problem. And fix it soon!

Reading through the comments on a Reddit post about Elite Dangerous and ultra settings, and it really doesn't seem like many people enjoy a completely smooth experience on Ultra settings with hardware that's slightly faster, or even a heck of a lot faster, than your specs.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/66vnr9/its_a_different_game_with_all_the_settings_at/?utm_source=amp&utm_medium=comment_list

I say play with the settings until you get a smooth experience, or try some of the troubleshooting steps here (1, 2, 6 and 7 are my reccomendations): https://forums.evga.com/B...mode-etc-m2504606.aspx

And for what it's worth, shadow quality and anti-aliasing settings are usually the settings that can make the biggest difference in FPS for any game. Try turning them off and then slowly turn them higher until you find the sweet spot.

Also for what it's worth, EVGA isn't responsible for 3rd party software or games working. That's the software or game company's job - if there is an Elite Dangerous game forum, you may want to check there for additional help / recommendations. Like here where someone recommends high settings and not ultra for the 1050 Ti - https://forums.frontier.c...s-on-a-1050-Ti/?page=1

"Current cutoff for products purchased is 8/31/2017 in order to submit a request today. Products purchased on or after this date may be eligible for the Step-Up program"

One thing I can tell you is, EVGA have great customer support, but when you start talking about scams, and telling EVGA to fix a problem which is I'm going to guess most likely you, it's just a bit crappy from your behalf.

Just to clarify, as there appears to be a bit of confusion, the cutoff date mentioned earlier is the earliest the card can be purchased and still qualify. You have 90 days from DOP to start the step-up process, if you are interested. That said, it's possible that the problem is with your settings, or the game itself. To make sure the card is performing as well as it should be, I recommend downloading and running 3DMark, click the button that says Compare Results Online, and then provide the resulting web page. You may not be able to share links, so I would recommend replacing any .s with a space instead. Like so: 3dmark com/fs/1234567.

OK, I did an experiment. This morning I played Age of Empires. I have  a patch that allows me to play at 1920 x 1080p. All that does is allow me to play full screen on my 27" monitor. It also allows me to have more villagers and warriors. I can now go up to 1000 in this game, right now I have it set for 375. Not a big load on the graphics card. I ran task manager. The cpu utilization never went over 30%.
Now, this afternoon, I played Elite Dangerous. With task manager running I hit 51% utilization and a cpu clock rate of 3.87 GHz. It is not my cpu or ram, which only went to 5.6GB.
So those of you looking to blame my system, you're barking up the wrong tree.

The people in this thread are trying to help you, so there's no reason to be hostile. Narrowing down the cause of the problem is the most important thing to do when trying to troubleshoot a problem. I still recommend running 3DMark, as this provides a large amount of information that we can use to find a possible cause.

This is for the guy who wanted me to change my setting in the NVidia Control Panel to maximum. It made the game much worse.

Run www.userbenchmark.com - I want to see if there is any immediate noticeable thing with your hardware. Once it finishes running it opens a webpage, paste the link here. It only takes 2 minutes or so.
