Bought my 3080xc3 at msrp in 2020 and converted it to hybrid. Just got a queue notify for a 3080tiXC3. It's basically twice the price of what I paid, but I'm wondering if I could recoup most of the price by selling my 3080xc3 (non-lhr), but not sure if it's really worth the hassle. Also, not sure about going back to air because of the noise, the 3080ti sounds like a really hot card. Opinions?

The only real reason would be the increased VRAM.
 
Do you game at 4K? 
 
Have you ever not been able to play a game because you didn't have enough VRAM?
 
If not, and you don't plan on switching to 4K in the next couple months than it's probably not worth it. Manufacturers are always releasing new better hardware and future proofing is just a marketing ploy.
 
But ultimately that a decision only you can make.

I do game at 4k, either in 60hz or 120hz mode, depending if the game can achieve 120hz. So on that mode it could help, yes. But generally I'm happy with the 3080, I was just pondering because of insane mining prices if the slight upgrade was worth it, if it could be almost like a 'free' upgrade, but taking into the account the risk and hassle of selling the card for a comparable amount. 

I ended up getting a 3080 hybrid and then selling my non-LHR 3080 on eBay and it was a complete hassle (ended up having to show proof with a video of the entire packing process because a buyer accused me of fraud). Do not recommend. IMO the Ti and 12 GB models are only worth it if you really need the extra memory for 4k gaming and high res texture packs. Plus the 4000 series is expected to be revealed soon. Who knows how pricing will be a factor then though but I would rather just wait it out.

I caved and bought it, hopefully it will be worth it. I'm kinda regretting the decision already, but oh well.

You may want to consider selling it in person instead of selling it online due to the aforementioned 15% fees and commissions. I was going to only meet up with a buyer if they agreed to meet at a police station parking lot for the safety of both parties since we live in crazy times. If you live in a big city, you'll probably still get a good price for it. Best of luck!

I ended up cancelling, I just didn't like the idea of dealing with such an expensive item on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace. Thanks.
