Hey guys
Just though I would give you some information as I do not have this problem.
 
What I got:
EVGA FTW X79 (Bios 44)
16GB RAM
i7 3820
Running W7 Ultimate
Bluetooth enabled
(Have not installed the USB firmware update released)
 
All of the drivers where downloaded from the website.
All Bios settings are pretty much default (stock) except for Fan speeds.
 
My KB and Mouse are connected to USB 2.0 since there will be no gain from a 3.0, however my headset is always connected to a 3.0 and every now and then whenever I use my 3.0 USB's I don't have a problem.

When you first install the USB 3.0 upgrade firmware program it will tell you devices not found. You have to restart your computer and run the program again for the devices to be found.

Try a different usb 3.0 driver and check your device manager to make sure they are installed.

Sorry to grave dig, but can we still download this firmware update? Or is it already included?
 
I have an x79 classified I just purchased from the bstock. I am having a problem where the Rear usb 3.0 ports are randomly not working. The front USB 3.0 ports and the top two usb 2.0 ports do work.

I came across the above thread and it seems that this firmware update fixed the problem.

Also you may want to update your Chipset Drivers Intel® Chipset Driver for Windows Version: 10.1.18015.8142 (Latest)

Thanks for your reply. Yes I am using the version of bios v2.06 and I have applied the VIA VL810 firmware upgrade v9.6 that JacobF posted in the initial post of this thread, but still suffering the power surge issue. This is the reason why I asked in here, as I saw from other place also mentioned that only the v9.7 beta VL810 firmware can eliminate this problem. Is this VL810 v9.7 beta firmware still available from EVGA.com? I couldn't find it in X79 FTW section. But manojks mentioned that it should be there. Please help me. Thanks a lot!

Power surge issue are just what I learned to live with on mine
As far as an X79 Section it was moved under EVGA Intel 270/170/9/8/Legacy Series the same place this Thread is now located.

Then what are you asking for?
Need more info on VIA's VL810
ASMedia is what are on the X79 Motherboard.
