Ok I got step 4 now. I'm a bit confused though. Do I have to pay for the shipment to EVGA? I kinda thought the shipping price which is showed in the price listing included the shipping to and from EVGA. I only got a PDF with a Barcode and both my and EVGA address on it but it doesn't look like a regular shipping slip?
Yeah you still have to pay, getting it there is your responsibility. They just provided the unpaid label to make it more convenient.
BTW do not forget to insure the package appropriately. IIRC most providers cap the value way under what our old cards were worth.
I think I paid 6 EUR extra via DHL.
The shipping costs included in our StepUp calculation is one way, from them to us.

Kinda ridiculous if you think about it that EVGA is asking to pay up for the shipment back, considering that you pay upwards of 900€ for sth. and I'm pretty sure, they have special contracts with DHL, UPS etc. so that they never pay the actual 5,99€ they're adding to the GPU cost.

As long as it's a one time thing, it's alright. It would be come annoying if you RMAed the card a few times. Knock on wood. :D That said, you've seen the US/CA posts about RMAs, right? 🙈 Yikes. Makes you think they bought UPS shares.

Must have been especially fun when having to go through several cards back when they just kept dying with black screens. However, I've seen a few of those they sent me a paid shipping label for the second RMA type of posts as well, so that's not all Vantablack.

Wow that's insane. Esepcially considering RMA cases, it's not the fault of the customer and if it's within warranty, they should cover the shipment costs. Imagine buying a 800$ card, just for it to arrive with a defect and then you have to pay 200$ to make use of your warranty lol

In the EU you can make the manufacturer to pay the shipping for RMAs.

So my GPU is on its way to EVGA. Hopefully it'll get to them by tommorow and I'll get the 3080 next week. Since I also live in Germany and the RMA Dept. is also here, it should work out to next week. I'll keep you updated :D

Sent my 3070 parcel with UPS on the 20th from the UK. Supposed to be "guaranteed Friday 22nd delivery". Said it cleared customs in Koeln at 9am on Friday morning. Then at 5pm is still said "import scan koeln Germany". Nothing updated today I know evga is shut on weekends. I just hope the package delivers to them on Monday. I have been reading horror stories of packages being held in Koeln for up to 14 days which would be long after my RMA number expires! 😡 Fingers crossed. EDIT: my 3070 delivered to them today! And they processed the 3080 and shipped it today also! 6 hours tuen around. Hopefully should arrive with me in the next 2 days, very impressed! EDIT 2: UPS just asked me to pay £45.95 in government charges and a brokerage fee before they release the parcel. I guess that's normal?? Delivery due on the 28th

It is finally done! Started the journey on 16.1.21, got the 3080 today, only 467 days later :D Already built it in and now on to testing temps etc. If you guys wanna hear some numbers I can post them later. And here she is:

At least I am in this topic's list haha. I think and hope that many people will opt out of the step up once the new generation is released. I will stick to the 3080 since it will cost me nearly the shipping only and is perfectly sufficient for me @WQHD.
