Grats!

Wait, increased? Again? Or is that the 90 EUR whatever it was increase from April on? How much was the final price then?

Re: Unofficial 3080 Step Up Queue Thread - EUROPE 2021/08/25 04:55:51 (permalink)
I think the calculation that was displayed on the "My products" page was missing taxes or something.
Actual price of the 3080: ~930€
Minus 599€ (what I paid for my 2070 that was stepped up) = ~330€
Plus transport fee (DE): ~6€
--> had to pay ~336€ for step up.
The "My Products" page announced I would have to pay ~250€. Before May it was saying ~210€. Anyway, step up is a good deal.

I received step 3 & 4 today and just sent my card to EVGA in Germany.

Now I have a question to the lucky people who already went through the whole process: How much time does EVGA (Germany) take to send the new card after receiving the old one? Since I am from southern Germany I am quite optimistic that EVGA will receive my card tomorrow and my inner child wants to believe there is a chance to receive the new card still this week.

Oh right, thanks. I'm expecting the same, just for a moment thought it was going to become even more expensive. 🙈
My StepUp calculation on the account page hasn't been updated after day one of waiting.

Alright so : Step 3, Step 4, paid, verified, GPU in the mail. Will keep you posted.

On the price topic, i paid 16€ to EVGA as Step Up ( from a 2080ti though )
and 35€ for the package to be sent to germany, with 1000€ insurance.

I didn't even know there were shipping options. It said 5.99 or something and that's it.
Theoretically insurance is a vendor problem, or rather sender issue. Commercial senders are on the hook either way if a package gets lost in transit.

I shipped it from a local office, not a service provided by EVGA.
Basically for that insurance, I paid 10€ to insure they don't lose it, otherwise they have to reimburse me 1000€ ( which is less than the price of the card, but it's the maximum they insure...)

Don't worry that is just an estimate, if you use the invoice EVGA send you and/or make sure DDP is ticked, they won't get charged that. Even though I created an invoice via UPS when buying postage, the invoice I attached to the parcel 3x was the EVGA proforma invoice CS provided me with.

Also for anyone receiving packages into the UK we've got to the bottom of custom charges, it appears it is an EVGA mistake https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/3454405 So the good news is you can reclaim with a BOR286 form, the bad news is until EVGA fix this you'll likely get your parcel seized by customs and hit by VAT charges.

Datanode made a very informative thread about the postage requirements.   As Audioboxer mentioned, ensuring DDP is checked is of huge importance.

@horstigger Given the fact you are in Germany and do not have to deal with Customs, I'd be quietly confident of it being with you probably after the weekend.   Fingers crossed for a delivery this week though,  EVGA were super efficient with the turn around for me once my card arrived.

Re: Unofficial 3080 Step Up Queue Thread - EUROPE 2021/08/26 03:45:32 (permalink)
My old card ist on the way to EVGA. I'm living in germany, so the whole exchange takes 3 to 4 working days (weekend days excluded!). For me that is okay.

A little thing thats pisses me off: while getting to the Paying-Step for the 3080 FTW3 Ultra the price was increased a huge step! From my point of view that ist not an fair way. All the month are showing the first intended price (and i'm checking my prdoucts side nearly every day!). By presenting the european customer the increased price after waiting nearly over a year while the us customers are getting faster fullfilment is like showning us european customers the middle finger with the one hand by holding the other hand open for taking more cash! This was the same situation with my 3090 FTW3 Ultra step-up and the price increase was much more, but i was tired of waiting or paying much higher scalper prices.

Just that i say it clear: I like the Step-Up-program and the possibilities which goes hand in hand with the program. Thanks for that EVGA. But you don't have to use scalping technics to loyal customers! ;-)

But from my german point of view the following ist the point:
Customer and vendor say: "For product X you have to pay the value Z!" an both say "Okay!". The vendor ist not allowed to increase the Value Z.

Send my card yesterday via DHL to EVGA and it arrived and is also processed today. Only got an e-mail that my card arrived but i checked the step-up and got a tracking number. So i expect my card tomorrow or Saturday. Wish you luck that you got your card on Mo or even Saturday.

That's normal, give them a day or two. The annoying part is UPS, they need sometimes 2 or 3 days to deliver your card.

How did that happen?

For those running into considerably higher costs, how expensive was the old card compared to their respective MSRP?
Is there a list somewhere? Sadly the old cards don't have any pricing anymore, at least my 2070S something something IDGAF didn't have it listed anymore.
I wouldn't expect EVGA to accept scalper pricing as down payment for the StepUp, and sadly authorized resellers aren't behaving much better than fully fledged eBay scalpers.

A roughly 90 EUR jump should have happened anyway after the April price increase.

I paid 823€ for rtx3080 XC3, just for card, without shipping. Anyway, I'm in queue since December, so when my turn will come, rtx4000 release will be much sooner. I have waterblock on XC3, so 190€ for stepup, selling current waterblock, buying new, that would be like 300€ for XC3 -> FTW3. Not sure I want that.

3080XC3 (10G-P5-3881-KL) is listed for 714.99 EUR before VAT while the FTW3 Ultra (10G-P5-3897-KL) is listed for 781.99. That's a difference of 67 EUR flat, plus tax plus shipping. Should be well below 100 EUR, probably half of your given 190 EUR estimate. Very odd.

Coming from an XC3 under water, is the StepUp really worth it?

40€ yes, 190€ no.  9 months ago, I wanted to push max (450-500W) from 3080, for that I would need FTW3.  But now I barely play any games (autumn / winter will come, maybe that will change).
If my turn for stepup was 6-8 months ago, I think I would pay 190€, but my turn won't be anytime soon, so I better save money for rtx4000 (or AMD, who knows), which will be much much faster than current gen.

Your step up cost updated from 42 to 190€ while you are still on step 1 queue?

It is still showing the same price for me since I registered for step up on October 2nd, 149.98€. I'm stepping up a 2080 Super XC Gaming, which I paid 718€ on Amazon back then.

I guess price will be raised once I'm out of queue, since it's showing 851,99€ VAT Inc for the 3080FTW3, which I assume is the price it was on release day.
