Hey everyone, so I just got this laptop last month but I am interested in undervolting, but I'm somewhat of a noob when it comes to this. Can someone help with the bios settings? I have the 6820HK /1070 model. And is the bios sufficient or should I use throttlestop instead? Thanks.

EVGA SC 17 i7-6820HK overclock or undervolting: use mobile X precision software custom presets and adjust Vcore Offset -100 or -90mV, very stable on default cpu clock. Do not use Throttle Stop it will conflicting with Mobile X Precision software.  Using mobile X precision program you can overclock GPU. I do +135 for core and +500 for memory, use 385.28 drivers for nvidia. Less artifacts and play BF1 nice and smooth. If you planing to upgrade nvidia drivers in the future do this: power options - choose what the power buttons do - on battery and plugged in  ---- shut down.... This setting for troubleshooting. Or use external monitor, tv and extend this displays . Make external monitor main display if you wish. ( no more boot artifacts)   What is your default cpu voltage at 800 mhz? If you have 0.715 and below you can use this settings.  all cores 36 (-50, -40 mV), all 37 at 0 offset, all 38 (+50, +60 mV), all 39 (+100 mV). This is very nice presets for video editing. For games all 27 (-100 mV vcore offset), all default cpu core (-90 mV offset). Nvidia driver 385.28 for now. Why this driver, because gpu use turbo boost 3 less agresive, for example playing game at 1080 and vsync -on, gpu core mhz  and memory will drop to the point to hold 60 fps, and you will get less heat and less fans noise. With latest drivers 388.71 you not see this, vsyn -on, gpu core at 1800 + 2000 mhz,  80+C on gpu temperature.  +++++++ UP TO YOU GUYS .  Mobile Precision X allows you to control fans, use you arrow key on keyboard to go down below 30% fans speed.

Thanks for that, hadn't messed around with it much, and thought 30% was the lowest settings.

Thanks RobertVIP for the info! Would it be too much of a bother if you posted screenshots of your settings? That would help me a lot. And from what I understand, don't even mess with the settings in the bios, just use mobile precision x? Thanks again!

Wanted to add, I just use this for gaming really. Your gaming settings, is that underclocking the cpu?

Bump... Anyone else care to share their settings for the SC17? Thanks.

OK, so it seems that no one really wants to share or comment, but i will.

Here are some settings that worked for me in Precision X Software -

    Core 1 - 36
    Core 2 - 34
    Core 3 - 33
    Core 4 - 32
Ring - 36 (What does this do??)

Vcore Mode - Adaptive (what does this do vs override??)

    Vcore Target - 800 mV
    Vcore offset - -120mV

    GPU
    Core clock offset - 185
    Memory Clock offset - 555

So far, everything is rock solid at these settings. Can anyone chime in on Ring and Vcore mode do? Thanks!

Ring, is the cache clock speed, you can just keep it at stock clocks.  Core is king, when you are oveclocking, so bumping the speeds of them are most beneficial, performance wise, once you find a stable voltage at particular core speed, then you can up the ring speed to find the stable spot, but doing this only shows mild performance increase, so not necessary.  On the kabylake cpu, ring always runs 300MHz less than the core.  So the stock 1 core turbo boost for the i7-7820HK is 3.9MHz, so the ring is at 3.6MHz.  Four cores would be 3.5MHz and the Ring 3.2MHz.
As far as Vcore, it is the voltage for the CPU and Ring.  You want to keep in on adaptive,  the target just set to auto.  Offset is undervolt or overvolt. If not overclocking, you will be using negative offset, like you did -120mV, or whatever value is stable for your use.
When overclocking to 4.2Mhz and beyond, it is possible that voltage offset will have to positive.
Override, you can ignore, unless you want to really overclock.  It is easier to find a stable voltage with a high overclock, with override, sending a specific voltage to the cpu, so even when it downclocks to 800Mhz let's say on idle, the voltage is the same.

Each cpu is different, so undervolt or overvolts values will vary, some manage high overvolts others not so well, the infamous silicon lottery.  My i7-7820HK lost at the lottery compared to the other machine I had with the same CPU, so I can't undervolt as well as I would like.
Since I find precisionX a bit annoying, because of the standard presets that I can't change and the fact that it switches to Normal preset automatically on battery, I opted to do some changes, by unlocking my Bios.
So now in the Bios I can adjust the standard presets as well, not just the Custom one.
Daily driver - Custom preset 4 cores 3.9Mhz (offset -60mV)
    Superclock - 4 cores 4.2MHz, ring 3.9MHz (offset 0mV)
Normal - 4 cores 2.9MHz (offset -120mV) - This is my battery profile since precisionx switches to battery automatically.
    Silent - Stock clocks 39-37-36-35 (offset -90mV)

Certainly not recommeded because it is possible to have a bad flash and brick your machine, or change settings and damage your machine, and void the warranty.  If you are familiar with unlocking Bios, so that you can have access to essential settings to get the most performance out of the HK cpu then it is not too hard, if not, then not recommended and not much to gain anyways, since most settings on this Bios do nothing anyways, most Power Limits are controlled by the EC firmware and not the Bios.

Hey okay thanks for the heads up. I have unlocked my bios on Asus laptop so I have some knowledge. I would appreciate it if you can pm me on the details on how to do so, I cant respond to pm's cant I dont meet the requirements to send a pm. Thanks
