Unable to reinstall or uninstall EVGA Precision XOC

Was upgrading from 6.1.2 to 6.1.6 when the program couldn't find a temp file called C:\Users\*\AppData\Local\Temp\{9428AAC0-6E06-48F6-819E-55CEAE1203A0}\  when I quit the install program it tells me error 1714: can't remove the older version of Precision. I can't even uninstall it going through the control panel apps and it tries to start up when I boot my computer. I can start the program from its program file and was able to disable it's startup settings but it still tries to load when I reboot.

    Delete the evga folders under c:\program files & c:\program files(x86), reboot pc, reinstall 6.1.2, uninstall 6.1.2, Delete the evga folders under c:\program files & c:\program files(x86), reboot pc, install 6.1.6. See how that works.

    Unable to delete any of the EVGA folders, errors saying the files are in use.

    If you continue to have problems you may need to try a system restore point.

    Welcome to the forums..System Restore can be your quick and easy friend..Windows creates a Restore Point to when EVGA Precision is installed..You can go back to if all else fails.

    I'd just remove the EVGA precision related folders and scan with ccleaner for any EVGA precision related registry leftovers to delete, then try again to install the new version.

    Why don't they just fix the software, i have this problem every so often, then you can't uninstall it, you can't reinstall it either. it telling me it's on a CD rom and to insert my disk. what disk it's a download through the site. Having this problem today. Yesterday worked, today doesn't. And having to go into safe mode and or a restore are you kidding me. this is ridiculous to say the least to uninstall it. They just need to fix the software. If you install the updated version it should automatically remove all the old software as well. Would just like a simple fan controller for my cards fans. as they don't run without this software.
     
    Oh by the way restore also can remove updates and other software that has been installed for weeks or months. Then you have to reinstall those as well. System Restore is a last resort you use. If you have to use it a lot then you have some problems with your system either not configured correctly, or possible hardware incompatibilities. or a lot of other things that can cause system problems. it is a tool not to be overused.
