I have an x34 and then a PG258Q. When I try to game on the x34, there is very noticeable input lag and blur caused by it being IPS. It is really sad because it looks significantly better with the colors and sharpness, but the overall gaming experience is ruined by lag and blur. The PG258Q is smooth with motion and no lag, but has bad colors and sharpness. Any other x34 owners out there?

What are your system specs? What connection are you using...HDMI...DP..etc?

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Displayport. It is obviously the monitor, as the PG258Q is VERY smooth. I guess, I am just sensitive to motion blur/lag. I even notice a difference between the PG278Q and the PG258Q, but to much less extent. It would just be nice if the x34 were lower, in lag and blur, as it looks MUCH better.

also depends on the game, thats a lot of monitor to power if your playing aaa titles like bf1, motion blur could be from fps drop's

Locked at 200. Low settings to make sure the FPS stay at 200. It is definitely the monitor. So many people want to believe that these IPS monitors can compete with TN on the level of responsiveness, input lag and blur, but it just simply is not the case.

What res were you running on the x34? Native? If yes, try 2560 x 1080.

If your senses are that keen u may be sensing the truth. Comparatively the x34 has 50% more input lag than the PG258Q. X34 is 9ms and the PG258Q is 6ms. But those are outstanding and should not be noticeably different. The factors that you are probably noticing are the difference in refresh rates where the x34 is 100Hz (if u OCd it) and the PG258Q is 240Hz. Combine that with the fact the X34 is 3440x1440 and the PG258Q is 1920x1080 then it is easy to see a clear difference in the hardware power necessary to drive each display. That difference in demand of your hardware could be the cause of what u r witnessing relative to if your PC can fully drive the x34 to its max performance when at that same demand u can get much higher fps on the PG258Q due to its lower resolution. But i personally prefer IPS over TN any day.

Refresh rate needs to be the same when comparing the monitors. Make sure g-sync is enabled on both too.

Yeah, it really is just how the game feels. I notice the visual difference right away going from 100Hz to 240Hz, but you get used to that after a while. The biggest difference is that everything is just so much more responsive. I also play better with the 240Hz monitor in shooter games, my aim is much better. I am pretty sure the aim is due to the 240Hz. I believe this because if you move the mouse across the screen really fast, you see more trails. Meaning your aim should also be more accurate in games.

Yeah, I think that I will just go back to my old PG278Q (for some reason I bought the PG258q too..) as a good compromise. Sell that ultra wide.

if you are going for smoothness in first person shooters, nothing is going to compare to the 240hz monitors out now. i just recently got a pg279q from microcenter but i returned it.

I didn't know they were up to 240hz in a monitor. Is that @ 1080?
