Running a mining rig can take a lot of power but connecting it to a nuclear power plant is kind of a major breach of security. The barracks would be a pretty large security risk but the fact hardware was also found in the administration offices for the plant is really surprising. No word on if anyone tried to hack the powerplant while it was online no word on what brand the 16 GPU's found in the mining rigs are.

I just wonder... why? I mean mining and such can take a lot of power, but I didn't think it was quite that much... if you're going to hack something, computers that prevent a meltdown should be on the bottom of the list. unless that's really the intent, it seems like the worst choice in regards to accomplishing something.

I have to agree it’s a bad choice. Probably going to result in life in jail and could hurt the mining community if countries fear what people will do to mine.

The thread title is wrong, the events took place in Ukraine, not Russia.

From what I have heard the power plant is under Russian control even though it's located in the Ukraine. It's probably because of the break up of the USSR since if Russia had invasion of the Ukraine had resulted in seizing a nuclear power plant I think that would make news.

Sounds like the plot of an Austin Powers sequel movie.
