Hi all, I just finished a bit of a Franken-build and am having a problem where my USB keyboard and mouse aren't being recognized by the Windows 7 installer. The BIOS recognizes it just fine but I can't input anything into the installer and am stuck at the "Language to install" screen. Both keyboard and mouse light up as if they are functional. I have tried every USB port available, including front panel USB 2 ones. The other thing that occurred to me is that perhaps the system is freezing up, not allowing me to see when I move the mouse or press a key. Any ideas? My configuration is as follows: Intel i7 8700k EVGA Z370 FTW EVGA GTX 780Ti Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz 2x8GB CoolerMaster SilentPro M600 WD Black 1TB HDD Logitech MX518 mouse Microsoft Digital Media Pro keyboard

bcavnaugh Have you installed the latest Chipset Drivers?
Not sure how to do that if I can't get Windows installed first??? bcavnaugh In the Bios did you keep the default setting for the USB Legacy that is?
Yep. The only things I changed in BIOS were the memory profile to XMP 1 @ 3GHz, boot mode select to LEGACY, and boot order to boot to CD/DVD before HDD. bcavnaugh Connect the USB 2.0 Header on the MB and Use the USB 2.0 Ports and not the USB 3 Ports.
Yep, did that. The case actually doesn't even have a USB 3 connector for the front panel.

I am not using an EVGA board but I have a Z370 with a 8700k and when I tried to use my Windows 7 installation I got a message that the processor wouldn't be supported in Windows 7.

Not all Processor support Windows 7, time to take the Training Wheels off or buy a Processor that still supports Windows 7. But it looks like your Non-EVGA Motherboard is also not supporting Windows 7. And needs to be Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1. While you can install Windows 7 on this Processor you may not be able to get Windows Updates. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4012982/the-processor-is-not-supported-together-with-the-windows-version-thatYou must run Windows Update manually to get updates that is.

No training wheels here, I have been using 10 since the inception. I just had 7 set up in a dual boot situation running on an external drive enclosure. Just kept it with my Z68 board if I ever need it for something.

I have found that having two different Drives and two different Bios settings can I run Windows 7 and Window 10 on the Same Computer without issues.

I have but it is more a Profile for Win7 and a Profile for Win10. I think I have like 3 Different Bios Profiles for each OS. I Power Off, Change Drive Cables then the Power on enter the Bios and Select and Load the Profile I was to use. To Note on the X299 and the Z370 Not All the Settings are really Saved when you save a Profile. So on my X299 I do use the Bios Switch over using Bios Profiles.
