They work. They've not failed. No surprises. Better throughput than Greens. Not much more to say other than that. It's what I'd expect out of WD.

Small follow up on this, apparently RAID5 on an intel controller isn't all it's cracked up to be. I was reconfiguring my system. I changed a few settings on the JMicron side of things and the computer got what I'd best called "confused". It orphaned 2 of the drives on the RAID5 as non-RAID breaking the RAID5 volume and making it unrecoverable. At this point I'm thinking the intel controller is crap. I might as well RAID0 them if RAID5 is not safe.

Cox is gonna love my bandwidth usage this month. Off to reinstall 3TB of Steam again...

Been running RAID 5 on the Intel controller for over 3 months now I think with zero issues.

I am going to bring this thread back to ask a question.  Can the WD Red be used as a stand alone storage drive?  It appears after reading this thread is was not be meant for it.  I am looking to replace my 2TB black storage drive.

Thanks for the Intel RST update Brad!

Ill be planning a RAID card, once I build my server in fall, Intel should be ashamed, but prob could care less, but thats a given in the day and age, all about the quick sell.....

Yes, a red will work for storage. It's meant for NAS use, and as such, typically runs all the time, serving up media.

Gigabyte Z590 Vision G Mobo, intel i3 10105 CPU, 32GB GSkill Ripjaws DDR4 3200 RAM, EVGA GTX 750ti FTW Video Card, EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 power supply, Fractal Design Focus G (White) case, Cooler Master Hyper212 RGB Black CPU cooler. 2 Dell LED Monitors (20" & 24"), SK Hynix Gold 1TB SATA SSD (OS Drive), 6 WD HDDs 13TB total (Storage).
Rig is a partial update on the old Gigabyte P43/Q6600 OC rig... The WD HDD's, (13TB, total), Blu-ray & DVD burners,  GTX750ti FTW & Supernova 850 G2 psu, migrated from old setup... Will get an 11700K, and an RTX 3060 12GB Black card, when I'm ready to OC... Windows 11 Pro set for performance, and it runs at 4.2Ghz...
Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience Wheel/Pedals,
Built for Gaming, Video Production, and Cakewalk, Cubase DAWs...
