I literally cannot buy a GPU for my build.. these retailers markup their stock by $300-600 just because of how hard it is to grab one. Nothing but greed. I've been checking daily on here for the EVGA - GEFORCE GTX 1080 TI 11GB SC2 ELITE GAMING VIDEO CARD (11G-P4-6693-K4) doesn't change from auto notify yet these retailer seem to be able to snag them. And Nvidia tells retailers not to sell to miners but rather gamers you think they care who buys their ridiculously marked up prices? Their making sheer profit it's discusting. I'm not up for paying double MSRP just to try and get one especially when I'm already paying in CAD. Wish I could get the SC2 for MSRP I almost feel as if there is no shortage and manufacturers are taking advantage of this and withholding stock.. How do I get my hands on the SC2? nowinstock.net rarely updates for Canadian tracker yet I see other location trackers at a constant update for GPUs. Literally every single store online/physical are Out of stock or on back order and you pay roughly $500 more if you want to backorder.

You should be blaming the Miners and the 3rd Party Sellers and not The Retailers.
Most Retailers and All Authorized Retailers are keeping with the MSRP.

The retailers are just as at fault.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. I'm here in hopes of finding ANY 1080ti so I can finish my rig, but the chances of that happening (for less than $1400) seem to be slim to none. Hopefully prices and availability return to normal as bitcoin's value falls.

Yeh, I feel your pain man. One can only hope that it soon ends. But... It was also suppose to come down in December and that didn't happen.

It really is a shame. I'm glad I jumped and got my 1070ti when I did... I wanted a 1080, but tbh, unnecessary at 1080p so this card works just fine.

However I very much noticed a week later it was 20 bucks more, then soon it was 50, now it's hundreds more... I got lucky. It really sucks for everyone else. I feel for you guys.

the mark up are painful to anyone who wants to buy a gpu, but I can't say that's unexpected at all, I've come to expect most people, and almost all companies will take whatever money they can get, and as a pessimist I don't think it's within my power to change that much. One thing I do wonder about however, is if Nvidia will take advantage as well, and set the recommended price for their next gen cards, whenever they come out to be really high. The did give a pretty high price with the Titan V. I could see something like the gtx 2080 being $900-$1000 as the MSRP just because they can.

I admit I'm tempted to sell one of my GTX 1080 tis for a ton, take the money and run, but the thing about temptation is, you can say no.

I'm also tempted to go into a philosophical rant about the meaning of morality and how it applies to supply and demand, but... think that's getting a bit off topic.

Boy this is tough. Lol I agree it's been a nightmare of searching online and in-store stock. He'll, even BestBuy has increased their cost of 1080tis So to say it's not the retailers fault is absurd. Lol as people their naturally greedy especially businesses trying to get ahead with yearly and quarterly profits. But I don't think they understand and take into account of the folks like us who remember the greed when it comes down to future purchases of even non related product. And I could list a number of places I'll never buy products off again just at that fact. Call it what you will but that's my mindset (by the way not directing this toward you just a rant =P) newegg.ca/Amazon/canadacomputers/staples/ncix and tons more are charging inflated cost to purchase. Only one site I've seen have a decent cost for the SC2 and that's SuperBiiz. (For $839) the rest you're looking at roughly $1100-1800 as I understand it's business it sickens me. And to be honest I could agree with you on the whole Nvidia plot. They could set a higher MSRP for their next gen but hmm would it upset enough of the community to have an impact on their name/future sales of that gen? Count me in! Or could consumers say F that and continue to buy the 1080tis ? Maybe the miners would shell out the inflated cost for the new gen but as a gamer I'm sure they would shy away a lot of consumers to make a point that their greed isn't tolerated.

    I don't know. It's so all debatable =P

As far as the selling of your personal 1080ti... We won't go there =P haha

Would be nice if EVGA could give an ETA of vid card stock for vendors. I'm pretty sure China is in a Holiday right now, so it may be awhile before vid cards make it to the US.

EDIT: I see EVGA has addressed this.

It's proof positive that the consumer market can be artificially inflated and tampered with price fixing. Supply and demand can only go so far as to explain this nonsense.

All this is crazy and getting far out of hand. I upgraded my 680 too a Evga GTX 1070, great card but wanted upgrade to something little more horsepower under the hood. Looked at 1080 Ti then all this mining crap happen and no offense to anyone does it but I want mining to die an horrible death because this is stupid. So now I’m looking at a Titian Type card if I buy one then I’m done with GPU buys for a lot of years. Between this and memory prices much as I love PCs seriously thinking it might time to be done =S

In the past we have seen retailers charge far over MSRP for high in demand motherboards and graphics cards. That is not going to change. If a retailer sees the chance to earn big bucks from overcharging that is what they will do.

Try finding a 1600w power supply! I think I might have snagged the very last one in stock a month ago.

The 6850k is also back to original retail price of $657 at Newegg. A month ago $344.

PC’s are all the rage again! But seriously, mining can’t be doing all of this

TBH I wouldn't be buying a current gen GPU now anyway because it's just too close to the next generation announcement. Either get a 2nd hand 9 series for cheap or use what you're currently using until the next gen is announced. You'll be able to pick up 10 series in a few months real cheap used.

Mining is causing the rage here.

I am currently buying up anything I can get my hands on that is not horribly over MSRP.

I am building as many rigs as I can based on availability of 1080 cards.

I don't buy from places that price gouge.

I pay maybe 100 or 200 over msrp and that's it. I usually wait until though for MSRP deals.

And yep. Demand is high. I plan on buying at least 60+ cards as fast as I can.

I don't buy from places that price gouge.
I pay maybe 100 or 200 over msrp and that's it. I usually wait until though for MSRP deals.
And yep. Demand is high. I plan on buying at least 60+ cards as fast as I can.

    That is Price Gouging.

Price gouging is asking 1,000.00 for a 500.00 card and I have to have it to function.

Nobody is twisting my arm to pay 100 or 200 over MSRP. That is supply and demand.

And 90% of the cards I have purchased in the last week were at MSRP.

I have purchased 9 cards total this week so far.  Mostly EVGA and PNY and Asus. All GTX 1080's of various types.

And two of the cards came with free mother boards as some sort of promo deal. I will sell those for 100.00 each and reduce my card price.

I would prefer to have 1080 TI cards but those are really hard to find without big markups. I choose not to buy those currently until they get back to MSRP or just above.
