Just got home from one of my town's mom and pop PC shops. I love shopping there. Recommending friends there because, they struggle to compete. Prices are always decent, maybe a couple bucks more, so keep em around ya know? Been around for like 20+ years, great place.
 
Anyway, I walked in, and the kid (Haven't seen him before probably new) asks if he can help. I said I'm just killing time, where are the GPU's at? I'm needing an upgrade... As we walk over, he asks what I currently have, I tell him 1070ti blah blah blah... He said their selection was a little small at the moment, but walked me over anyway. I get there and I'm looking and yeah, pretty pathetic selection, they had a 1650 ti, and a bunch of ancient cards you probably couldn't even give away nowadays.... Then I notice a 6900 XT, and right next to it a brand new in box EVGA RTX 3080. I grabbed it so freaking fast as I shouted out loud, "OMG you guys actually have a 3080?!"... 
 
Then I flipped the box over... my excitement fell thru the floor, and I muttered... "At ebay prices too..." ($2200)
 
The kid and I did have a good albeit short conversation about the supply issues and all that tho. The 6900 XT was also massively overpriced for those wondering. 
 
It was cool to actually find a 3080 in the wild tho... It was the first one i've seen. I actually wanted to take it out of the box just to hold one in my actual hands... But thought they'd probably kick me out for being a weirdo... Anyway ... So they do still exist. Just... You gotta really want it to pay those prices.

It was unfortunate about the price, if it was sub 1000, it would probably be in my system at this very second. 
 
But he said, they've put in the requests for cards from all the manufacturers, they can't even get a single card anywhere. The only way they get 6900 XT's or 3080/3090's is from ebay.
 
He did say business has been good tho regardless to the stock issues with the cards. When they sell one, they just go straight to ebay and order another one. That's how they are getting them he said.

I know my Nvidia FE 3080 is a thing of beauty to hold & marvel at.  When I got it, I was literally like an 8 yr old schoolgirl when I opened it up and held it, and looked it over...Grinning from ear to ear 
 
Seems unlikely to be able to mark up prices after procuring any cards from EBAY scalpers...

every morning ppl line up in front of store for GC...i don't know how many of them exactly get one by waiting all-day ..

Man thats rough, I mean at least on the internet its not there. But to hold it in your hands and realize its so overpriced you couldnt possibly afford it is just depressing

Same where I live. The only one around here closed a few years ago. Sucks because I always want to support local places. I hate seeing every store taken over and replaced with a chain.

And by the time the layaway is paid off, the next generation will be out...lol

At least its available to the people willing to pay 2-3x as much.

It is being bought from Ebay at scalper prices tho. This only hurts the situation unfortunately.

That's what's frustrating about Newegg. People can keep reentering the shuffle no matter how many cards they've already bought. The prices are competitive enough to allow people to scalp them.

ngl, been seeing a lot of 3080s and 3070s in my country in large supplies, but at scalper prices sadly
