The question to the members is can you use a very high grade THERMAL PAD instead of using THERMAL PASTE???

Due to health problems i have had to sell my X-Rated WC X79 SET UP and buy a Gaming Laptop instead so i can keep in contact with all members and good friends!

It is the P25X V2 CF4 Model.

The only problem i have come across so far is the cooling for the CPU which throttles back @ 90c and the GPU which i have decided to up grade myself!

My idea is to use the 17 W/mk Fujipoly Pads not only for the Mosfets and VRM's but also on the CPU DIE and GPU DIE as well as the TIM i am thinking to use is only 8.5 W/mk!

Like the one posted above!

The Thermal Paste is GELID EXTREME which i have said is only 8.5 W/mk!

This the Specs for the Thermal Paste!

By using something that is more than twice the heat capacity of TIM it should by all accounts should dissipate the heat more evenly and quicker as well, that's my line of thinking this side.

Kind Regards,

Ajay.

If it was a tried and tested method, You'd see people all over the place using them and arguing why it's better than thermal paste....

Why risk damaging your equipment? That's meant to dissipate heat externally... Not for the CPU lol.

Thermal pads are thick, even if you get the thinnest possible, you can not get it as thin as thermal paste. I wouldn't suggest it.

Also, I have tested Fujiploy, and found that the only time Fujiploy ploy made a real difference was in people's reviews where they had dry thermal pads. I spent almost $75 on thermal pads and they are the same temp as the "cheap" version that came with my Waterblock. I won't be purchasing Fujiploy again.

One other issue, when I received the first order of Fujiploy pads, they were full of dust and dirt, like they had been dropped on the floor.

Hello there Ajay,

first of all sorry to hear about your health issues. Hope everything worked for the best, even though you had to sell your (very nice) rig.

Secondly, it sounds like your laptop might have some problem, not related to thermal paste but to the cooling system itself! How long have you had it, do you usually use a laptop cooler, and is the place where you use it dust-free?

I'd try to check other reviews around the net to see if there are similar complains. I would also try to sent it for repair, because either the cooling is very inefficient, or you have a bad unit.

Don't open it up as you'll most definitely lose the warranty. This should be a last case scenario.

Also I'm not too sure about the thermal pads, but I have the impression they are conductive or something and should be avoided on the CPU. I've never seen anyone use thermal pads on the CPU so I don't know what issues might come from that.

If you really, really want to open it, I'd check some good thermal paste (methinks maybe the AC MX4 or Noctua NH1).

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the best wishes, yeah i have Osteoarthritis which suddenly got worse and is now attacking hands and arms, so i had to put my tool set away.

Hence the laptop here so i can still keep in touch its just that these Models tend to run hot. There is quite a few quotes on the Web and Youtube about changing the TIM and PADS which greatly improves the cooling overall as much as 10c! I think its the same situation as De-Lidding CPU's because the poor quality TIM the Manufacturer has used, once its been done there never seems to be any problems or issues afterwards.

This is a great laptop i have here and once the cooling is sorted out it will be even better i  have been Benchmarking and Subing scores to the HWbot, but what is holding me back is the CPU its Throttling due to the Temps. The TIM i will use for the CPU & GPU DIE is GELID EXTREME i have had great success with this in the past builds i have done as for the Pads i will use those for the VRM's and MOSFETS on the Mobo.

Thanks again for your reply's,

Ajay.

Are you adding pads to the VRM's and MOSFETS? or replacing existing lower quality pads? I've redone TIM on CPU's and GPU's in laptops before with good results, the system builders generally don't use great TIM.

I'm an Arctic Silver 5 person myself, but to each their own.

I will use the old pads as templates for the new replacements that we be the Fujipoly @ 17W/mk and the Gelid Extreme on the CPU & GPU DIE i really need a drop of 5c plus if i can!

Anymore would be a bonus 10c would help stop the CPU Throttling back when things get to hot, by the way i have a 3 fan laptop cooler underneath running full time here to help out. Will post the results for everyone to see once its completed, just waiting for the PADS from USA FROZENPC they are in Chicago UPS DEPOT as we chat!

So, did you go with the Fujipoly & if so, how did it work?
