I'm not sure I like the fact that one person can manipulate the market like that...

IDK why they still use GPUs whey they have specialized equipment for it...

GPUs are still cheaper and easier to access than specialised miners. Also way easier to resell them after a year.

If nothing else it should decrease profit incentive for scalpers. Albeit really this should've been dealt with at the retailer level. Seeing things like Amazon selling cards then reselling them through scalper third parties is frustrating.

At some point people have to realize it is going to come back down to earth. Just like in 2018.

One can hope. A flood of used cards would certainly help correct the gpu market but I would bet most miners would hold on to their cards considering the market and crypto will likely go back up, it's always been volatile.

If I can buy a card at MSRP, then any crash (real or imagined) would be welcome.

Just been reading about the "Crypto Crash", of the last few days.

Is this a sign that we may see what occurred the last time Crypto crashed? Suddenly the demand for cards will tank, and eBay will be flooded with used GPU's?

Interesting to say the least, still massive Silicone shortage and manufacturing constraints, but will the personal computer/gaming enthusiast start to see more access to GPU's?

Not going to happen. When the market crashed in 2018, there wasn't as much widespread adoption and attention on the crypto space as there is today. Mining is also such a small portion of the GPU shortage issue currently, where as last time that was pretty much the only reason there was a shortage. Crypto has been trading sideways for the last week or 2, and is gearing up for another push after all the fud and market manipulation that was sprung to shake out all of the new investors. Financial institutions got their buys in while everything was cheap and now you are hearing people like Kevin O'leary, Ray Dalio, and Goldman Sachs talking about crypto. The rich are ready for another push now that they have their buy ins. Eth, ADA and Doge are all strapping themselves to rockets for new ATH's by end of June/July.

He didn't. These are the catalysts which are mostly all fake news:

- China banning Crypto for the 50th time (all they did was reiterate that it's banned for financial institutions)
- India banning crypto for the 100th time (they just unbanned it for the 100th time as well)
- Tesla putting a halt to accepting bitcoin as payment (they will probably accept it again in the future, and this was a Tesla decision not an Elon Musk decision)
- Rising inflation
- General fear in the crypto space from new investors/paper hands

The list goes on. It all culminated at one point in time to create a massive crash, but it's going to rebound into the stratosphere over the next few months.

Even if crypto dies the scalpers will rise all the time because they make much more money from this.thats the ugly truth

serious question , if the cards,  new ones and I'm assuming new skus have hash limits that would be a fundamental hardware change? and the processor level i would imagine , so in effect they will release entire new lines of Gpus? if that is the case what happens to our spot in line?> if they will no longer be producing the non hash limited cards? any one?

As someone both into crypto and gaming hardware, it's really cool to see the relationship between the two of them. It sucks that crypto mining is so prevalant, both for the environment and availability of hardware.

People wouldn't be able to afford it. There are already ASIC miners that have such a higher hash rate per dollar spent, and per watt consumed, but a single video card is much cheaper and more obtainable to the average consumer.

I am wondering how it will work out since people who have a 3080 can mine worn it without a limit so they probably can toss it on eBay for a miner to buy as they go for a upgrade to a 3080Ti. I am just saying it’s great NVIDIA put the limit in place but it means the older 3080 does have an advantage and will still be resold at ridiculous prices while the 3080Ti has a high price to start.

Just kind of sad because I was really happy to see the low price the 3080 launched at.
