Hope that it causes miners stop buying up vast amounts of cards and inventory comes back.

We will only find out after they release the new GPUs. For now we can only hope they dont.

The pandemic and chipageddon are keeping the supply low enough that any short/small change in crypto won't really affect the overall market. Demand is so much higher than back in 2017/2018 during the last GPU shortage.

For it to crash, it doesn't just need a massive drop in value, it needs to KEEP going down for an extended period of time. Otherwise, it's just a normal dip. Eth's massive downturn is already halfway towards recovery.

Even if it crashes it will recover again, and when It crashes severely I will definitely buy a coin and then flip it next year!

Just like the last “crypto crash” crypto will recover again in a year or so. Even if the cards become available, it will be beneficial to some folks, but I don’t think crypto crash would be a good reason for dedicated miners to sell of their stock. If they were smart, they would hold their cards and continue mining for the recovery.

This is exactly what will happen, as it's the natural investment strategy to have.

There is a crash, but 1 ETH is still 1ETH, only the dollar amount changes if you're not holding. The crash is more of a bounce.

It's all just speculation from the end user side of things with regard to supply and demand.  I don't think any of us has the kind of access to speak intelligently to what's happening with fab numbers and where cards are ending up installed and their use case.

I can see money going into crypto if US inflation really takes off and the US dollar devalues significantly...

Crypto may also be affected by government regulation and tax implications like capital gains.  Never stand between a politician and a source of tax revenue.

I think there's too much momentum from the <30 y/o crowd for crypto to lose significant momentum to the point that it will remedy the GPU market. Just my 2c

Hypothetically, let's say that crypto crashes overnight.

All you've done is deter newbies from getting in on the craze. That's it.

The previous crash barely lasted a year, so I can only imagine that a recovery will be much faster than it was before.

Just been reading about the "Crypto Crash", of the last few days.

Is this a sign that we may see what occurred the last time Crypto crashed? Suddenly the demand for cards will tank, and eBay will be flooded with used GPU's?

Interesting to say the least, still massive Silicone shortage and manufacturing constraints, but will the personal computer/gaming enthusiast start to see more access to GPU's?

Yes and no, it's tricky cause crypto shoots right back up every time and reaches new high. But yes when crypto crashes, you tend to see miners dump gpus on ebay

Until GPU makes makes it so that their video cards are useless in mining and forces the miners to buy mining cards, regular video cards from miners won't hit ebay. cause if my video card can mine stuff,  I'm gonna let it run until Ican't use it anymore.

There are very few cases in life where I find happiness in the misfortune of others. A crash in cryptocurrency is one of those cases :)
As a fun fact, this volatility also illustrates why NVidia has been pushing their mining-only cards that cannot be used for gaming.  I am not fundamentally against the idea, especially if it enables more cards in the hands of gamers. But should the crash cause a decent below the level of profitability, the number of second hand cards available (and their impact to manufacturing sales) will be minimized.  Unlike last time there will be no afterparty of cheap cards.

IMO there's too much momentum behind crytpo for it to just die off and allow GPUs to flood the market. People will hold onto crypto as their "lotto ticket" to the bitter end. We're nowhere near the end of crypto - just my 2c

Yep. The last crash people panicked and started selling their assets to recover. But when it recovered, people learned that crashes can happen, and are less likely to sell their assets this time. Maybe the newbies or people getting fresh into it will be scared off, but those who've been in the game long enough won't quit now

Even if Crypto dies, they're still gonna hold on like you said, because if there's an offchance that it can bounce back, they can make their fortunes.

The crash is already recovering, isn't it? I can't imagine it will impact that heavily.

I don't have the stomach for investing, I would be more comfortable mining.

Think about what you're mining tho. The underlying is more volatile than a traditional "investment"

He's a multi-Billionaire...  I don't think that is the case for Elon.  it's about pushing what he can or cannot do.

They're going to try and figure out how to. Whether or not they'll be able to is another question.
