So I've been shopping around for a gaming laptop. My brother has an Alienware 17" R4. It is very nice although it's overpriced. I was considering a Sager. Luckily my brother sent me a link to Amazon for the SC17. I fell in love immediately! It's the GTX 1080 4K Gsync model. With a 4 year Amazon warranty and tax it is $3484. I will be getting one fairly soon. The looks of the laptop are so clean. Best looking one I've seen. One of the first things I'm going to do is repaste the TIM possibly with liquid metal. I look forward to telling ya'll how it goes.

I think EVGA only have the 1070 version available at present, but yeah, nice machine for sure. I've owned 2 Sager machines in the past - they are solid beasts! You might want to take a look at the Sager NP9175 (Clevo P775TM-G). Go to XoticPC.com and select the customization options tab for the Sager NP9175. For around the same price (or slightly lower I believe): i7-8700k CPU - yes an actual full desktop CPU in a laptop lol.. I think the SC17 has an i7-6820HK CPU. 17.3" 4K QFHD Matte Display with G-SYNC Technology (3840 x 2160) GTX-1080 with 8GB GDDR5X memory 32GB Dual Channel DDR4 SDRAM at 3000MHz (2x16GB) 250GB Samsung 960 EVO M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD 1TB drive as well - lots of customization options. RGB backlit keyboard (SC17 is white only apparently) + lots of other options.. Sager are solid machines, and this one about the same weight too (8.6lb Sager vs 8.9lb SC17). I've purchased 3 laptops through XoticPC and had no issues at all. I even get a small discount as a returning customer after my first purchase there. Check my signature for my current laptop I've had for a year or two now... weighs only 4lbs.

There were multiple sales 3 to 4 months ago and a bunch of us paid $1300 or $1400 for the SC17 with the GTX 1070 or $1900 for the SC17 with the GTX 1080. It was a good deal, and I think it was worth it. But at retail price, is it really worth it? I would consider twice. The CPUs and GPUs are quite old by now and new models will be coming out sooner or later. Who knows if EVGA will continue making and selling laptops, but someone will have newer models with newer CPUs and GPUs sooner or later.

How in the world was it $1100 off?! I could see a couple hundred off. Doesn't sound right.

Crazy, huh? I think EVGA was trying to liquidate its supply around Christmas, while there was still some demand, so that it wouldn't get stuck with so much unsold stock. The 1080 model isn't even listed in EVGA's store any more; I think EVGA sold everything it had and then discountinued it. The one you see on Amazon is probably one of the last available. This was an ad: EVGA had a similar sale multiple times (2, 3, or 4 times for most models) from the middle of December to the middle of January.

They were, bought mine for 1399 got the G-sync 1070, 32gb Ram, SSD and regular HD great deal. biggest downside in my opinion are it is an older cpu, its Also 4k which will limit the Native resolution high end gaming lifespan on it and cannot stream 4k shows. Also only 2 year warranty no extended available through EVGA (plenty of 3rd party places to buy extended warranties though) and no where to buy an extra OEM power supply for it.

And EVGA soffware support is limited. EVGA wants to treat it like all their other hardware; if it acts up, they want you to send it in. EVGA doesn't seem to be providing very good support to those who need help using or reinstalling Windows. Along the lines of software, EVGA's Precision Mobile application hasn't been getting a lot of love or attention from EVGA either. Also, when it comes to the warranty, be careful because EVGA doesn't appear to have a great amount of spare parts for the laptops. If it breaks in 3 years and EVGA doesn't have the part, I don't know how long you would end up waiting for an acceptable fix. I believe that most users did not purchase an extended warranty, and EVGA probavly planned out their spare parts based on expected need during the standard warranty period.

Yes on the extended warranties make sure you have a if it can bed fixed or they send you the monetary value that you insured instead.

EVGA removed the SC17 1080 model from their site.....hummm. So it seems that ones at amazon are the last ones in stocck. Great laptop, and so far around here, I am the only one with this model, but with the 6 core mobile cpus out, hard to justify paying full price for the 7th gen cpu. Although these new 6 core do seem to run very hot and various throttling issues form the early reports.
