I bought a 3080 xc3 black also the hybrid kit. Once installed everything at idle is seems fine. idle temps are 25c - 29c depending on ambient temp. But under load it hitting 59c low 60s. Is this normal? I know it may not be fair to compare but i had a 1080 sc with the kraken g12 conversion and wouldn't go above 45c. I even switch to different case to allow more fans i have 3 fans on top exhausting  3 on bottom intake and other 3 i mess with configuration to see if it affects temp but nothing. I also noticed when i took out the rad to reconfigure the fans i can hear the liquid and on my other coolers i dont really hear any of the liquid moving inside.

the gpu radiator is side mounted with tubes on the bottom
the case is lian li 001

I have exactly the same temps. Never breaks beyond 60 though. Fans at full blast keeps it below (using arctic Bionix). And that is at 100% usage, below that it runs cooler. I think those temps are normal, my xc3 was doing 75c easy before the hybrid kit.

Also remember that the 1080 tdp is much lower.

im hoping that is the case. I did read that you can't compare temps from gtx series to rtx series but i'm fairly new to rtx series never used 20 series at all. I wish i could use my kraken x73 on this 3080 instead tbh.

I haven't done it either. EVGA seems to be giving confusing information about it. There is vbios posted somewhere on the forums but people are saying it's bad, but that there is a good one in Techpowerup. I'm not sure but maybe it could improve temps, but I'm holding off for now.

I was getting temps approaching 80 degrees with my XC3 3080 Black in a SFF case. And this was with under-volting the card as well to help keep the temps under control.
With the hybrid kit fitted I no longer need that under-volt and temps are stable under load at around 60 degrees with fans running at 40%.
Huge difference.
Its also reasonably quiet, whereas the stock cooler sounding like a rocket taking off when under full load.

I've installed the hybrid vbios. It does seem to make the card slightly cooler, but it boosts a bit less. I don't think you'll gain much from it. The default fan curve profile does seem better though.

To update, the 'official' vbios for the xc3 hybrid is bugged as other users said. It causes weird artifacts, bad/lower boosting behaviour, and some other oddities (like high idle wattage, at least reported). The unverified vbios in techpowerup's website is definitely the one to use. It also seems to make the card run cooler, but I haven't done a lot of testing to 100% assert this.

Do you have a link to the exact one you used?

This is the unverified BIOS I used to fix the issues:

And to clarify, people with the factory Hybrid 3080's have confirmed that their vbios is the same version as the techpowerup one.

This is the unverified BIOS I used to fix the issues:

techpowerup.com/vgabios/227530/227530

I attempted to flash that bios to my 3080 XC3 ultra, and nvflash displayed this, and aborted.

Before I flashed that Hybrid BIOS, I ran the BIOS update provided by EVGA_JacobF to convert the BIOS from the standard XC3 to a Hybrid XC3:

evga.com/EVGA/GeneralDownloading.aspx?file=3080_XC3_HYBRID.zip

Might be worth trying that first if you haven't already.

Thanks much, that worked. Also looks like the 8-pin voltage issue is sorted out. Only negative is that precision demands to do a bios update, and exits if it's not done. Not a problem since I prefer afterburner. Everything working nicely now. Wish EVGA would increase the power limit for hybrid XC3s though. Probably product segmentation and such.

You can do the firmware update safely, it doesn't change the vbios.

Yeah, that terrified me when I flashed the vbios... I'm still worried that my hybrid pump will fail again, and when I reinstall the original cooler and reflash my original vbios it could get bricked.
