The USA doesn't have the infrastructure to support it

With tax incentives, it's very possible. I mean it's not hard labor making this things afaik.

not possible - beside TSMC made their choice with taiwan again reason 1. raw resources - thet come from china - they have the rare earth elements - USA does not - that means shipping long distances(over land and sea) = and that means added costs 2. refining those resource - no infrastructure that's more added cost to refine them 3. toxic slug and pollution - enviromental laws are stricter in US and you don't want the stench or pollution anyways 4 labor cost significantly higher in USA 5. taxes are higher - state, federal, etc 6. your competitors will stay in asia - that means if you would move your silicon would be 2-3x more costly for the same Finfet process - basically it would put them out of business the only possibility would be finished product assembly - parts made in taiwan - ship parts and assemble in US that's what they looked at - but that means modern plants that are all automated robots - meaning - very few jobs anyways you do realize that 25% of all jobs will be replace by machines in 3 years and it will go to 50% or higher after that most jobs can be replaced by AI the jobs of the future are using your brains and not your hands

We can build rockets, aircraft, aircraft carriers, satellites, cars, electric cars, and nuclear power. I think we could handle a plant like that. I think what they will look is tax, labor force, and where the bulk of their resources are located such as raw materials.

TSMC going strong on 7nm and 5nmTaiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has obtained a bunch of new orders, mainly advanced AI solutions, however requiring 7nm and 5nm process capacities in 2019, according to industry sources. Yes, there now already is talk of 5nm in 2019. https://www.guru3d.com/ne...ng-on-7nm-and-5nm.html
