Just got my z590 Dark and i9-11900K

Looking into ram and what has worked for others,
G. Skill
ddr4-4600 2x32 or ddr4-5333 2x8

I do mostly gaming but also run multiple applications at once with graphic design work.

A number of us tried the G.Skill 5333MHz 2x8GB and could not get it to post at XMP, although hopefully some BIOS updates in the future will resolve that... hopefully. For both myself and rblaes_99 (and possibly others), the G.Skill 4800MHz 2x16GB posted at XMP with no issues at all (on Gear 2).

The 4800MHz worked for me. 5100MHz did too, but I didn't spend enough time playing with timings to make it worth it. Speaking of which...time has not been my friend lately, I need to get something in the mail.

Latency is possibly quite similar between those 2 settings, would be interesting to see some benchmarks.

I got the 5333MHz to run at 5200MHz C22, 1.6V, but not fully stable when stress tested. They were fully stable at 5000MHz C20 1.55V though.
Totally relate to time not being a friend lately, and it seems to be getting worse. Le sigh.

Not bad. Was like 58 I think. With my current 3466 CL14 it's 48.

Re: Supported memory list? 2021/10/07 07:50:30 (permalink)
Windows 11 allows for 5866Mhz at CL21 with no cpu oc. (pic below)

With Win 10 could only hit 5866Mhz CL22 (with no cpu oc). Kinda weird nothing else has changed, all the hardware bios everything remaining constant - except moving from Win10 to Win11.

Could always run 5866Mhz CL21 with added voltage and a proper CPU overclock of 5.1Ghz, but since it's RKL, that adds additional heat.

------

Also purchased and installed Microsoft Office Home and Business 2021 yesterday, and the simple work apps really LOVE the high speed Hynix DJR kit, responsiveness is off the charts amazing.

Win10 to Win11 - more responsive
MS Office 2019 to MS Office 2021 - more responsive
Gskill 5333 kit OC'd to 5600 or 5866 - more responsive
WD_Black SN850 NVMe SSD in the Rocket Lake PCIe 4.0 M.2 slot - more responsive than Optane 280GB PCIe 3.0

Finding the thermal and performance "sweetspot" for working long hours - is priceless.

https://i.imgur.com/VmDiOfL.jpg

Below is the extremely simple 3-minute XMP overclock for the Gskill F4-5333C22D-16GTES mem kit:
1) set XMP
2) set 5600 or 5866
3) set DRAM voltage to 1.625v or 1.725v respectively
4) save out of bios and reboot

Yes, that's with no CPU overclock, but RKL's increased Single Thread over Coffee Lake and Comet Lake even the 11600K i5 at stock 4.9Ghz boost feels very responsive with the high-speed Hynix DJR.

If you are running an 11900K, then your stock single core boost is way up at 5.3Ghz. I would guess even more responsive.

------

Hoping EVGA comes through and allows the Z590 Dark to take full advantage of the super high-speed Hynix 5333 kit for you guys, I really want to consider the EVGA Z790 Dark for Raptor Lake next year.

Where's that bios update?

Looking to grab a kit for an 11900KF, 570Z Dark, 3090 FTW Ultra build. Looking run a light OC and daily drive the pc. Having a hard time finding kits available that are mentioned in this sub.  Any idea if The Ripjaws V series 2x16 kit 4000/14cas would run out the gate? https://www.newegg.com/g-...9?Item=N82E16820374239

z590* (lol sorry, couldn't help it).

I doubt you'll get 4000MHz to run in gear 1, but it would run gear 2 fine. You can likely run it at 3733 or 3600MHz with those excellent timings at gear 1. That's what I did with my 4000MHz kit. I just set xmp profile 1, then manually dropped the speed, and set gear 1. I also increased the voltage on mine a pinch and tightened timings a just a little, but you can likely just change speed and set gear 1 and be fine.

Edit: What speed you can run gear 1 on (or 2 for that matter) will depend on your CPU's IMC capability. They're all different and mileage varies a lot.

No Z590 Dark motherboard owners screaming out in unison "We have achieved 5333Mhz"

So that's a BIG NO and a big dump for the new 1.06 bios.

I keep saying EVGA should NOT advertise 5333Mhz(+) capable for the Z590 Dark motherboard specs if it can only deliver 4800Mhz. That's going to make buyers purchase the Gskill 5333Mhz kits prematurely and then become extremely frustrated and RMA perfectly fine working and performing 5333Mhz ddr4 memory kits.

Gskill pays for the RMA and sends you out a new kit and guess what? It doesn't work again, because - your motherboard is not on the QVL.

If your motherboard IS NOT listed on the Gskill mem kit QVL - then don't buy the mem kit, just because EVGA gives you a promise they cannot deliver upon.

ALWAYS check Gskill's QVL to find your motherboard before you spend $300 to $400 on a mem kit. like duh!

I love my EVGA Z390 Dark and my 980 KingPin graphics card, but I'm not even thinking about a Z790 Dark for Raptor Lake. Brilliant EVGA tech brother Tin is GONE!

Can EVGA even create the 5333Mhz Gskill kit (they advertise as compatible) in their spec sheet running on the Z590 Dark in the lab at 5333 5600 5866?

If it's possible, why can't Luumi show us it's possible?

on air cooling please for us normal people, not liquid nitrogen

There is no way they had the Z590 Dark running 5333MHz memory stable before release.

Not doable with BIOS 1.05, or even with the current 1.06 version, it's all BS!

I pulled the Z590 Dark board out of my chassis, it's back on the bench,.. thinking about using it for a doner board and re-cap my old Asus P5E64 WS Evolution board.

Ordered Asus M13A board last week, should have it on Monday.

I was going to skip RL and just cruise with my M12E system till 12th Gen release, but figured 5333, 5600 or even 5866 would be sweet, it will be the last hoorah with DDR4.

All those Hynix high speed DJR DDR4 speeds are so very sweet let me give them to you, lol.

I'm running 5866 5600 and even the silly so slow 5333Mhz with just a few clicks in bios.

EVGA should list the Z590 Dark board as ONLY 4800Mhz capable. Because that's what it is!

My numbers are not on LN2, I'm just running a simple home office Noctua air-cooled build with a Rocket Lake i5 11600K 6-core and 5866Mhz DDR4 simple cool and stable.

Yes, my motherboard IS on the Gskill QVL. I thought that was important, instead of buying a Gskill 5333 mem kit and complaining to Gskill that it simply does not work at XMP with my EVGA Z590 Dark.

My forward motion future educated guess is the EVGA Z590 Dark will NEVER be capable of 5333Mhz memory stable.

Because EVGA simply does not have the man hours or the money to tune the Hynix DJR memory into the bios. Tin jumped off a sinking ship.

I wouldn't say never, as the board does indeed have the capability to run 5333+ stable,.. with the correct BIOS updates.  Best I could do with Samsung B-die 4800MHz kit was 5100MHz stable, and the memory trained vary well, was not an issue tightening all timings going up from XMP 4800MHz, system was stable up to 5100MHz. And with the Micron-die 5100MHz kit, the system would not boot Windows in XMP, could be manually tuned up to 5100 and boot windows but never fully stable,.. lowering Micron-die kit down to 4800 the system did not respond/train well, 4600 was best with the Micron-die kit. So the BIOS does need some tweaking. I don't have any Hynix-die memory,.. most of my kits are Samsung B-die, perhaps twenty kits from 3000MHz up to 4800MHz, the board does seem to work well with the B-die.

Because that's what it is!

i tested an obscene number of ram kits and 4800 is where I ended up.  I tend to agree with your assessment.

If it's not to much trouble,.. could you PM me those Hynix profiles, and I will give them a go this weekend.

Received the new M13A board today, I'll be loading OS, some B-die memory profiles next few days, and will have F4-5333C22D-16GVK Hynix kit on Friday.

Edit: Thanks, XMP 1 5333MHz profile works great!  https://imgur.com/qrl1fFV

5866MHz is smooth as warm butter on hot toast. https://imgur.com/ZgMuabQ
