Luckily the board is new so bios updates could come out fairly often. I would contact support if you run into any RAM issues since they could be fixed.

Support wouldn't assist me with anything over 3200MHz.

my guess is that so much of this is actually based on the CPU IMC and silicone lottery the motherboard makers really can't control it.

G.Skill TridentZ RGB 4000MHz 2x16GB, 16-19-19-39, 1.40V
P/N: F4-4000C16D-32GTZR
Modules: Samsung B-Die
Tested in Z590 FTW. Runs XMP profile 1 at above specs (gear 2). I clicked XMP 1, then changed it to 3733MHz, gear 1, 1.45V, 16-16-39 and it has been running with zero issues since the first bios (I am on the latest now (1.06?)). It booted if I left it at 1.4V (I think BIOS shows 1.43 for the reading when set at 1.4), but I'd have some issues with stability tests after tightening the timings above. I did not adjust any other settings for it.

Exactly! The best the mobo's can do is to make sure the power getting to them is clean, the rest is up to the cpu imc and sticks. With speeds that high, imo, i wouldnt touch xmp at all and make sure its fully disabled cause its just terrible. Id look up a list of sticks with different timings at the same speeds that others, manufacturers, are using commercially too and then input a tick higher timings with the speed you want to run. Your def going to have to run the voltage a tick or two higher with 16gb sticks and running 4 or more of them. Def run them with a 2 command rate cause a 1 will def crash them if thats part of the issue. Ram are finicky creatures and even one timing being off will crash them right out. XMP is so hit or miss and it over volts your sticks etc... Just not good for what you guys are trying to do, but i really hope you guys work it out and get what you want.

MOBO: EVGA x299 Dark, CPU: I9 10900X, RAM: Patriot Viper RGB 3600 32gb, SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 1TB, M2: Samsung 970 EVO+ 1TB, PSU: CoolerMaster M2 1500, CPU HSF: EVGA 240 CLC HSF~ P/P EK Furious Vardar, G-CARD:EVGA RTX3090 FTW3 Ultra Gaming w/Hybrid kit and Noctua IPPC 3000 P/P, CASE: LIAN-LI PC-V2010B w/ Window mod, OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit, MON: Alienware AW3821DW

How do we determine what modules are on the sticks? Curious about whether I have the B dies or not.

I think I have the F4-4000C18D-64GTZR sticks (I'm not at home to look, so the model number may be wrong) for the new build.

bdie is only 8Gb (1GB) size chip so maximum of 16GB per module, if your modules are 32GB they can't be bdie.

Updated my earlier post here. The G.Skill 4800MHz was just delivered. Posted on XMP without a hitch.

G.Skill Trident Z Royal Elite 4800MHz 2x16GB
P/N: F4-4800C20D-32GTES
Modules: Hynix
Tested with 2 sticks on Z590 Dark. Loaded XMP defaults and Gear 2, saved and rebooted, posted no problem at all.

Thanks rblaes_99 for the help.

so let me get this straight even tho the Dark advertises that it supports DDR4 5333MHz+, we have no idea what Memory they used and have not found any memory that works???    Sounds like false advertisement if you ask me.

At that speed it may require manual tuning or the CPU memory controller is just not able to run at that speed.

correct....  i think this is exactly why there isn't a QVL for tested ram.   it would be pointless for EVGA to publish this as they have no control over the CPU you ended up with.

Yup. 3600 / 3733MHz seems to be about the max for Gear 1. Some people are getting good results by down-clocking 4000MHz ram to 3600 / 3733MHz Gear 1 and then tightening up the timings.

Some of us (including myself) bought 4000MHz memory and downclocked it to 3733MHz for Gear 1 operation and just tightened the timings as much as possible. 3733 cas14 gear 1 would be pretty awesome if your setup will allow it. Not all combos are ok with 3733 gear 1, so ymmv
