I realized i can do a stepup off the 3060 i bought last month. has anyone successfully done one lately? what are the wait times like? i don't really need a TI and would prefer just a 3080, but if i have to wait a year for a stepup for a 3080 a TI may be a better idea. just wondering how others have made out? thoughts? Tks!

I'm not sure what wait times are like right now, but I did my step up way back when the 3080 got released. I signed up for the step up queue about 30 mins after the 3080 got released and I got mine around October. I wouldn't be surprised if the step up queue for the 3080 is really long, but the 3080 TI might also be really long already. If I were you, I would just sign up with whichever one you can afford and just use the 3060 until then.

I cancelled my 3080 step-up yesterday and added the 3080ti at ~8am for my 3060. Had 4 days left of the 90. That's why I appreciate EVGA. I can use my 3060 until the dedicated step-up allocation is available. Unless you did it yesterday, it may be many months wait for the 3080ti. I hear 3080 FTW3 Ultra step-ups are backlogged from 2020. Although 3080 is $879 vs 3080ti $1399, at least it should be available sooner.  Great opportunity and/or pathetic depending on your outlook in life.

I just know its going to be quite the long wait.At the rate its going it will probably be another year maybe longer.

Not sure about the 3080 but got a 3060 on release day and put in for the 3090 upgrade Immediately. I’ve had the 3090 in hand for about a month already.

The reality is that 3080 was the popular choice so the wait is long.The 3090 was looking to be too expensive back then and not necessary for gaming.

You can expect to wait 8 months to a year for the 3080. At least that's been the current trend for the 3080 step up queue for North America. It's taken 9 months to fulfill the first 2 weeks of step ups, although the largest amount of step ups were from the first few days so it has started to move faster down the list. https://forums.evga.com/Unofficial-3080-Step-Up-Queue-Thread-NORTH-AMERICA-m3091969.aspx This is just from people who actively reported their step up, so it seems like there were much less reports towards the bottom of the list.

I registered for a 3080 Ti step up on launch day at 8:23 AM PST and received my step 2 on monday. My card shipped out last night. Not bad getting a 3080 Ti less than 2 weeks after launch

3080 will be a long wait. 3080ti may be better, but hard to say what the queue looks like. I got in the queue for NA at 8:34 PST on launch day and havent received the next steps yet.
