People should have the option to upgrade to the same series card as thy had before, not be limited to a lesser model when stepping up. If the cost difference between the two is paid whats holding it back?

What is holding them back is availability. The custom cards are made in much smaller quantities than reference boards.

When Asus, Gigabyte, MSi, Inno3d, palit, or Galax start offering step up, maybe they will make it competitive. Until then, it is a one of a kind offer to even have this option rather than eating a massive loss when a new card launches.

I'm grateful the program exists at all, really.  EVGA doesn't need to do this.  Who else offers such a program?  That being said, i would also gladly even pay a small premium to step up to a different model.
