I understand that once I order a component, in this case an inferior Gpu, that I'll have 90 days to register the gpu, apply for the step up, mail in the inferior gpu, and pay the difference to receive the upgrade.

In my case, I want a 2060, register it and apply for a 3080 upgrade. So what happens if in 90 days the 3080 never restocks? Will that void my upgrade? What if the 3080 restocks and its bought out from under me and my miss the window in a matter of seconds?

I'm new to this program so any info would help. I've check FAQs but they don't have specifics for the questions I have. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I filled out an auto notify as well. Which of these things have priority in getting a 3080? The ste up or the auto notify?

Regular stock has priority although keep in mind a small number of the actual batch is designated for step up from my understanding.. example .. batch of 10k units Maybe 500-1000 units will be allotted for step up numbers not large but a good amount to keep things moving (even this amount maybe too large think of possible 5%). Stocks been stupid low when looking at overall numbers since release avg units sent to physical stores have been minor 1 to maybe 10 pieces at best per shipment . Stocks anticipated to stabilize by release of their competitors..

I would just enter the notify queue personally unless you need a new card and can only get a 2060.

If you do get a 2060 or any other card you register, request the upgrade and then play with the old graphics card until the upgrade comes in stock and you are first in the queue for step up. At that time you send in the old card so you are not without a card for a long time.
