To be clear, I didn't post this because I thought EVGA would discontinue/not honor the step up program as I believe it would be inconsistent with the way they treat customers and generally bad pub for them.

I just need to know what the deal is so that I can make decisions accordingly.

Hopefully, someone official from EVGA can chime in and let us know the story.

I can still and will return my card if they pull this bull**** on us.

responses like this are just asinine. No other vendor offers what EVGA does in terms of the step-up. If their new product doesn't make it onto the step-up in time for some folks for the 90 day window you just have to accept it and move on or return the card and start over.

The product has a 4 to 6 week ship date so they're not going to essentially give you another month and a half on top of the 90 day step-up if you try to lock it in within the 90 day window. I cannot recall a time when they've allowed you to step-up into what is bascially a pre-order in the past but I could be wrong.

i think a service offered is a selling point from a vendor and could actually base a deciding factor to go with EVGA or a competitor. I'm in the same boat as the rest of these guys, the step up was what swung me from MSI to EVGA knowing these were on the horizon.  I'm just keeping calm since i have 25 days still.. i'll panic in 2-3 more weeks LOL

@repo1979 Maybe I shouldn't have, but I did. I bought 2 weeks ago specifically so I could upgrade. So if they pull it, I'm returning it.

I believe they may not allow the cards to be stepped up to until they have successfully fulfilled all of the preorders. That is my two cents.

That's fine, but they should say that. Any sort of announcement would be great because some of us are debating between pre-order and step up, and the longer we wait the less chance we have of getting a pre-order

@ You think it's asinine to purchase a product based on the manufacturers selling features?
You're right about returning it if I don't like it. If it doesn't make it to the step-up list, I will return it. And then I'll go buy from someone else who is more honest about what their company is and isn't willing to do -- Now I'm not making any assumptions here-- just a what-if scenerio. Don't read that as "EVGA lied to me, I'm going elsewhere" I have no idea if they will or will not honor the step up. I really hope they do.

No its asinine to think that 30 minutes after an announcement a vendor is going to clarify the 3000x questions on forums where people are spouting off ''if they pull this bs'' before you've even gotten all of the facts or information from EVGA. Give it time but I do not recall a time when EVGA has allowed a step-up into a card that is still in pre-order. so if you're getting low on your 90 days you clearly have a choice to make.

It's silly to think that they shouldn't have a prepared statement for the masses that are obviously going to ask about step-up immediately. They've had months to consider and draft a statement, and it should be released quickly so people can make a decision quickly.

To my knowledge and and as far back as I can remember EVGA never started a stepup during a pre-order period. Please wait to see what EVGA decides.

Obviously the step-up being a promotion, most likely will be last in priority since they need to first fulfill the preorders and thereafter first.  Not sure if they'll allow the step up to the 2xxx series as of yet which could hurt some that don't have much time left but I could see it in the coming weeks but you'll have to wait a long time to get your 2xxx GPU regardless.  I remember it took 2-4 months for some to get their GPUs from the previous gens.  This time around, it looks even more demanding for this new GPU so the wait time could take even longer.

Some might be better off and just try selling it privately or on ebay and the likes before the prices plummet even more down the road.

I was on the phone earlier during the announcement in an attempt to get the process started and was told that it would be made available on the website today. 30 minutes is probably expecting too much. I expect that it will be made available today.

If they don't honor the step up, I won't buy another EVGA product.  I'm not going to go on some tirade or speak in hyperbole, but I won't buy anything EVGA as I won't trust their word to the customer.

Again, I don't think that is in the cards.

It is now missing.

I got no confirmation like that via EVGA chat.  the guy I 'chatted' with didn't have any idea. Not knocking him, they just should have prepared for the questions. Esp this one.

One thing to keep in mind is we have seen the card sell out on orders expected to be filled within 6 weeks from now. That was within like an hour of them going live for order. I think that means everything is going to sell out quickly for a bit so while I expect to see a step up offered I don’t know if I would count on one soon.

One thing to keep in mind, this is a promotion, meaning, they can cancel this step up program at any time so don't get ya panties in a bunch.  No other company does this so please be patient. lol  I get it, my anxiety would be through the roof too but take it with stride and wait till it shows up if it's been said it will.  I'm sure they are preparing for the high demand in step up as well.

I have a problem with this-- that shouldn't be a good reason to not offer the step-up program immediately considering that some members are almost at their 90-day mark. Especially because they have a queue and even explain that a very high demand can necessitate a longer queue. So they knew that this could happen and covered themselves ahead of time. I don't see any good reason why the step-up program isn't be offered immediately-- see below: "
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why do I have to wait in queue?

We have a queue for our Step-Up process so you can keep your current EVGA product until we have your new product ready and waiting for you in our warehouse. Sometimes, very high demand will necessitate a longer than usual queue, but once you have made your request and you are in queue the 90 day limit no longer applies - you are considered in the Step-Up process.
If you are still within the 90 days from your original purchase, you can cancel your Step-Up and start a new process yourself. If you are out of the 90 days from your original purchase and you leave the queue, you will not be allowed to start a new Step-Up."

If I have to wait a few months, I really don't mind... I just want to make sure that I'm going to be included in the program so I can make a decision on what to do next.

Eh.  They don't have to ship the cards immediately.  My recollection from when I did the 1080ti step up is that you could apply for the step up que & wiat for cards to become available.  I think mine sat in que for a bit.

IE - 1080ti launched on 03/10/17.
My step up was applied for on 03/23/17 (I'm guessing that was near the beginning of the period)
My new card was paid for on 04/13/17.

Items to note:
1 - Only Nvidia was selling the 1080ti for the first two weeks after launch.
2 - I'm not sure when the step up became available.

If you get your Step Up done, you will get put in a queue and you get to keep using the card you have until your number comes up. If I had a week left for Step Up, I'd wait it out before selling off the card for cheap. Heck the 1080 Ti is already going for less then $500 shipped on eBay.

Yeah I have no doubt they will honor the step up. They replaced both of my 480 Hydro Coppers back in the day when I was working with them over the phone to get the overclocks stable and we fried the cards, no questions asked.

Ever since then, I've had the utmost faith in their customer service.

Shout out to Steve Crowe and Jacob Freeman who helped me fry those cards lol.

New card was announced a few hours ago and people already expect that they can apply for step-up on the same day.
Patience is a virtue. If you are not you can always pre-order new card it and sell your previous card once you have the new card on your hands.

I personally don't expect it to appear until Launch day on Sept 20th which is 31 days from now, while I have 35 days left. Will be close if it appears then.
