https://www.techpowerup.com/254265/steam-aaa-bleed-continues-anno-1800-to-be-uplay-and-epic-games-store-exclusive Ubisoft has pulled the upcoming entry to its smash-hit RTS franchise, "Anno 1800" from Steam. For the PC platform, the game will be available only through Ubisoft's own UPlay, and the Epic Games Store, which continues to vacuum AAA titles from Steam on the promise of higher revenue share for the game developers. Ubisoft is giving Steam fans a chance to put their money where their mouths are, though. You will be able to pre-order "Anno 1800" on Steam until April 16. The pre-ordered game will remain in your Steam library, and you will receive updates for the game through Steam. Also, people who purchased the game on Steam will be able to play multiplayer with those who bought their copies through UPlay or Epic Games Store. This presents Steam fans with a unique opportunity to tell a big studio like Ubisoft what they want. This might be a good idea. Customer feedback is very important.

AAA? Which games are those lmao... Personally, not a big fan of the new Metro, the story and cut scenes seem so incredibly choppy (not talking graphics quality); just feel like I'm being jerked from one location to another without much of a story. Other than that which other supposed "AAA" titles are exclusive to another platform? Anno 1800 a AAA title? Maybe, but still not mainstream to me... when I think RTS, Anno certainly doesn't fall in the top 10 for me, nor does it with any professional gaming competitors...

If anything Ubisoft should of just kept it on UPLAY for exclusivity(only for the reason it's their game/their store) and not just allow it on one other store. Not that I hold Ubisoft in high regards, they definitely fell down the like meter on this, as UPLAY is second to Steam for my game library.

It seems like Steam needs to address the issue that is pulling titles away and probably they should announce Half Life 3 and Portal 3 to really help make them a talked about company.

Couldn't disagree more, Uplay, Origin, and Epic apps are memory hogs with more memory leaks than an alzheimers patient. Those apps are ugly as sin as well, Steam has much more functionality, and customization than those two combined; plus mods/workshops, easy access to tutorials, discussion forums, and additional content. Just curious why/how steam rubbed you the wrong way? That's a lot of bitterness for a casual conversation...just sayin'

Lol at all these conscious buyers singling out all the variables and reading up and believing ethics of a company impacting their purchase decisions.
To me, if I want the game, I'll buy it whatever client it uses. Problem? Nope.

So now I won't need Steam and uplay, I'll need Epic and uplay. again: No. Sell me the game on a thumb drive, keep your crappy DRM and launcher viruses off my machine... ie: I'm not buying this garbage.

I 've held off buying games for several reasons lately including the following problem... Problem: Too many DDP's (digital distribution platforms) for video games. EOSU- Epic Games' launcher (Epic Games Store) - Origin (Electronic Arts) - Steam (Valve Corperation) - Uplay (Ubisoft) Solution: I guess my plan has been to, simply, add a Non-Steam-Game shortcut to Steam, for each Epic, Origin, and Uplay game. But I won't include, the Non-Steam-Game shortcuts with my "All Games" category games in Steam. And instead, create a category called, " All Non-Steam-Games", for them in Steam. And somebody will make an EOSU program before to long. And all this, just so ppl wouldn't have to remove a Disc and replace it with another.

be careful with Epic! they are partnered with Tencent, a Chinese company that hold the user accounts for Epic. I just had my account info stolen and sold on the web. my ccard was used to drain my bank account. Epic did nothing to help; instead, they said it was my fault.

+1 This. Buyer be aware. I hope epic does ok but no one comes close to how massive and versatile steam is. I honestly wish them well only because competition is great and steam might push more sales to blow them out of the water in their infancy stage but I will NOT send CC info to China or any company associated with the commies. lol

Not a fan of the exclusivity, it's a poor substitute for real competition. We'd all be rightfully complaining here if Asus bought exclusivity on a new Nvidia GPU, as while that might be good for Asus and Nvidia, it's not good for the consumers or any other companies. If Epic store was better I'd want to buy the game on their store, be it cheaper, more features, etc. But they can't actually compete in an open market so they seek to close it.
