Finally up and running.. watercooling working perfectly.. but I must say I'm a little dissappointed in the PPD so far! Running 2 rigs side by side. the one with the 2080ti is cranking the same project 18705 at 60.00 sec TPF at 3335000 PPD. The 3081ti is at 56.00 sec TPF at 3700000 PPD.. not much difference! Both work units are at 25%. Installed the latest studio driver 511.09. Precision X1 is showing clock speed is 1980MHz, voltage at 1081mV. I'm running both cards at stock clocks. Power bounces just a bit but is usually at 60%, set for 100. Clean install of windows 10 for the new card rig too. Can any 3080ti folders relate?

3080 Ti is 4 sec faster than 2080Ti ... score should be better could be the "new card" needs to run a few WU first .... every WU - even in the same 18705 project - can be Vastly different in PPD .... always been that way Look at the Base & Bonus points for each .... are they the same ? 18705 project - could just be a low PPD WU ? PPD estimate is more accurate around 80% completed

Thanks for the reply.. Yeah, I'll let them run for a while.. of course the next WU was a different project.

Just getting 16496's on the new card.. PPD is still about the same as the 2080ti.. over double the CUDA cores and it just pokes along. The 2080ti seems to utilize more of the WU power-wise. Anyone have success in giving these 3080ti's a slight OC?

Yes, a little dab will do you... You should be able to OC a bit, since you have the HC. I have a 3080Ti XC on air, 145 on the core, 300 on memory. Running @60 degree's. I wouldn't go to crazy with it [oc], simply because some WU's maybe more sensitive than others. I get a varying PPD, mine can go from 6 million PPD up to 10 million PPD. BUT, that includes a 1080TI on a hybrid folding as well. Lately it's been around 8- around 10 Million PPD. I can understand how you would be frustrated, between the two outputs.

Getting back to this.. finally pulled in a 18705 on the 3080ti rig.. same base credit as on the 2080ti right now.. base credit= 50000. Your right.. TPF IS 4 sec faster on the 3080ti. Why the hell is the PPD the same then?

did you set Nvidia CP to = prefer Max performance & is CUDA set to All ? almost like your not getting - bonus quick return credits? ... Do you See "CUDA device x specified" work - being assigned in your logs ? x= number OC the RAM ..... test, test, test ...... that Nvidia 30 series "auto correction feature" .... More is not always better Run GPU-Z ... what is the PerfCap ? Going to my way way back machine ..... Did you download the Nvidia driver from Nvidia site & Not use W10 update ? Microsoft was (Is?) stripping OpenCL from their version of drivers ..... that caused me a lot of pain before Details for this PC ?

I changed "NORMAL" performance to MAX. CUDA was already set to ALL logs say: cuda-device 0 specified (and no I'm not running the CPU) This is the same for the other machine also in case you are wondering. I was at 70% on the wu.. made no difference after the changes.. same TPF at 57.00 secs. Drivers I got from the NVIDIA site. System board is older.. ASUS with an AMD FX- 4300 quad core- 3.80 GHz. 4 GB of system RAM. Clean windows 10 installed. Brand new EVGA 1000W psu. I was thinking about swapping the card into the other rig.. just to see if there's an issue with the older board being the problem.. like some kind of bottleneck? All I know is that the new card is not being given enough to chew on I think. 60% power usage vs. 80% on the 2080ti.

I have a couple of ideas mflanaga. First, make sure you are not running the beta flag. You probably are not. Second, In the "Advanced Control Panel" select the "Configure tab". Then select "Advanced tab". Under "Cause Preference" choose "Alzheimer's". Then select "Save" You will be folding 18201 and should see a massive increase in PPD. Good Luck to you and Fold On!

Thanks for the tip, desktopgeek. I have my preference currently at "any".. So I swapped the cards.. the 2081ti is suffering a 1 mill ppd drop.. while the 3080ti has improved to double its previous folding! Apparently there's something with the old MB (prob the PCI slot) that doesn't like the newer cards.. Time for a new MB in that rig.. have one in a box and ready to go. I'll update further once everything is tweaked.. Thanks to everyone for your help! I'm just relieved that there's nothing wrong with the card.

My 3060ti is on it's 2nd consecutive 16490 and is way way lower in points. Like 1.5 mil less ppd. Same family of wu's you mentioned yesterday.

You are so right on! 18201's are giving me that 8 mill PPD on the 3080ti. (as predicted by Cool GTX, thanks to you too). Eventually i'll swap out the old motherboard in the other rig to prop up the PPD in that one too. Like I said, I dont even have to buy it.. sitting in a box brand new just taking up space. I'm sure the PPD on the 2080ti will improve accordingly after I do. This forum rocks..thanks to you all!
