Strange,

Guess you'll all have to get full Titans to use the good driver

Re: Started Test Folding - Nvidia GeForce drivers 381.65 WHQL 2017/04/13 03:46:31 (permalink)
Here's some data from my HFM log... not exactly scientific, but it's what I have.  All work units are core21 units folded on my water cooled EVGA GTX 970 FTW - typical boost clocks when folding are 1392MHz - 1404MHz.

Driver 372.90 is unshaded, driver 373.06 is shaded yellow, all other drivers shaded grey (including 381.65).  I only included projects that used both 372.90 & 373.06.

There are a couple anomaly's present, like the very first 9175 WU, which I believe was on one of our cold spell days where ambient room temp hit 63-65F which allowed for higher boost clocks.

I also removed most duplicate results & results that were way off due to using the PC while folding.

The only real difference I've noticed between 372.90 & 373.06 is on project 9175, but have only folded one with 373.06 so I don't know if that's the norm, or an anomaly...

Be aware that for All P91xx WUs you also have to compare the same Run number, because there can be ~30% performance difference between the Run numbers of the same projects.
For P9175 I've looked in my HFM data and my 980 Ti PPD varies from 535k (Run 1) to 740k (Run 28).

Edit: For example (according to my HFM data), your P9175 - Run 17 is a "slower", and  Run 21 is a "faster" than average WU.

Then I export from the viewer to CSV & open with Open Office Spreadsheet to sort, compare & remove unnecessary rows/columns.

thanks to the op for testing. I come check here now whenever there is a new driver after the problems with jobs crashing with a recent "upgrade".
the newest drivers do fold at least, but the ppd I was getting was horrible. sinking below 300k for my 970ssc.
installed 373.06 and now cruising at 350k like the "old days". amazing the difference.

made me think that it would be cool if pande's lab could somehow work with NVidia to make a GeForce driver that was strictly optimized for folding. if you can see a 15%+ increase between to gaming related drivers, what is the top end if the main objective was max ppd only? imagine a 15-20% increase in ppd across the entire installed (and active) base.
