So they didn't really sell "Gaming Chairs" before, only like office chairs and stuff like that, I've always just used the office chairs with the large back and they have always been comfortable and durable. They'd never break and I only replaced them because I felt like I wanted something new. I believe I've used 3-4 office chairs from Staples without a problem, then they come out with the "Gaming Chairs" line and I decided to get one, Super comfortable and I love it! 5 months into it (Purchased on 04/23/19) and this happens : ?!?!?!?! Never had this happen to me before, EVER. I've had 1 of the chairs hydraulic thing go out, but that was an easy fix, This however.... Not truly sure how I can fix it. It has 7 years limited warranty, whatever that means.... Just thought I'd share my experience in case anyone ever wondered about them as I have recommended this chair lol, I hope Staples can replace it for me.

If a gaming chair has a warranty you can contact the manufacturer for RMA. make sure you have your proof of purchase. Otherwise you go through the store where you bought it and ask them for RMA instructions.

I actually ended up purchasing this from Amazon instead : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M8S005W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Solid piece, I think it'd be more durable than the plastic base that comes with it, considering this is 100% cast aluminum. I also went ahead and purchased a heavy duty gas lift cylinder as well, since im already replacing the base, might as well upgrade to a better cylinder and avoid doing that later on. Also bought new heavy duty wheels as my current ones are the basic ones and suck when rolling around, the double wheel ones get jammed up with any little thing on the floor (Socks, cables, etc.) bought some nice black/red ones (Single piece heavy duty). I think this chair is going to last me years after these upgrades =P!!!

I wouldn't recommend going into a Staples store after the two week return window for anything. The employees can't do anything for you and are pushed on selling of the extended Square Trade warranty to the point that they are not going to look up RMA information even if they knew where to look. You have to keep in mind that they have to be a department head to even get 30 hours a week since they would then have to offer healthcare to them so they don't view it as a long term job. Also since Staples failed to buy out Office Depot/Office Max in 2015 the company has closed under preforming stores to the tune of 1/3rd of the retail locations in North America. So it's the kind of high pressure job in which if you do work your way up you are not sure if the location will be around in a year or two. I don't want to sound negative for the company just to know what to expect that you will be dealing with a employee who took a job at Staples instead of flipping burgers. If you wanted to contact the company the best way to find the information is to flip the chair over and look at the bottom of the seat. That is the location they will have tags for legal reasons as well as the company contact information for warranty replacement.

Yep ,they even tell you in the literature in the chairs to NOT contact the store for anything - get with manufacturer. ..but sounds like you're upgrading it anyways,..so Good Luck .

Hope it works out for ya! Metal or not that isn't cheap for a wheel base though, a second-hand business supply store would have a ton of nylon plastic wheel bases ya could probably snag for a steal. Bought an Alera Merix on sale and it uses a solid steel wheel base. Weighs a ton but the chair was built for people twice my weight so they had to balance it.
Have water, will cool.

Honestly, I wanted to upgrade this thing into a beast. My wheels and hydraulic got here today, waiting for the base. I'm tired of spending all this money on stuff, I need to stop, So I feel like upgrading this chair will make it last a long time. I don't care about the peeling, it happens with all chairs after a while, but I'd usually just buy a new chair when something like this happens and I'm done with that lol.

Guess it's also worth pointing out that the wheels, base and hydraulic could be used with a future chair if the chair itself starts to fall apart.

I will never have money for good gaming chair. I use some cheap office chair. I like CORSAIR T2 Road Warrior Black. But Yellow and White are nice as well. Except clear gaming chair I like most Steelcase chairs.

@ JGLuxe, pic is missin, all I see now This thread caught my eye because I was in staples a few days ago grabbing some printer ink and saw some gaming chairs by the checkout. I sat in one and noticed that the arms lifted out of the way which I like because arm rests get in the way when playing guitar. I looked at the base for footrests (none) and thought, meh, I'll check reviews first. It was comfy and "CHEAP" though. *Edit, this is the one I sat in https://www.staples.com/staples-gaming-chair-black-and-white-55172/product_24381063

I went AKRACING on my current chair. I sheered the bolt of an armwrest off a few months back. Took three photos of the issue and attached them to a service request from the company. A weekend later they approved the repair and sent me not one but two of the armwrest assemblies -- them paying for the shipping and nothing out of pocket for me. That is about as good as you can get for service that I've seen in furniture warranties.

It's this one : https://www.staples.com/staples-vartan-gaming-chair-red-53241/product_24326595?akamai-feo=off The pic I posted was from reddit but since I deleted the thread on reddit, it deleted too lol! I'll post the original pic in OP. I have had a couple of chairs from Staples, Actually my chairs have been from Staples and this has never happened before. The longest I've kept one was for 2 years and the worst thing that happened was it began peeling and it'd slowly drop down (Hydraulic gave out, easy fix). So they're good chairs, I might have just got a bad one. It doesn't even look like metal to protect it from snapping, I thought it was, but it looks like it's another layer of "stronger" plastic.

Oh my god, The hydraulic cylinder was a pain in the butt to remove lol, but I installed all the new pieces and I have a regret XD The chair sits high as HECK! I did read in the reviews of the cylinder that it sits higher, But I didn't think to check the height of the wheels as well, to put it into perspective, the highest the chair would originally go to, is the lowest the new setup goes to LOL.

If your feet are not touching the ground or not at a 90 degrees you might want to consider a foot rest to add some comfort to the chai now that it sits higher.

Bruh, I'm 5'11" and at it's highest my feet do not touch the ground lol! But I'm using it at it's lowest, which is a perfect fit for my desk and all, I sit comfortably and no problems whatsoever.

I use a Hon big and tall office chair, and with a weight limit of 450 lb, it's durable even with my 300+ lb. weight for the past 5 years. (after breaking a few earlier chairs) Maybe one reason I'm wearing of a "gaming" anything is that they can be all style, and pretty minimal when it comes to work well. Something durable, functional, comfortable, stylish, and affordable. Not sure if you can get all of that so I dropped the latter two a bit and found something that works for me. Ideally I'd like all 5 checked off, but aside from the arm durability (which can be replaced easily) I like my chair. (Hon VL705 big and tall chair if your interested)

I got my current chair from Staples... I went with this Tempur-Pedic chair. I've had it for about 3 years now and it's still super comfortable. The second I sat in it, I knew I had to have it. Their website had it $100 off at the time, so I got it for $200. I do remember they gave me some trouble with matching their own price... They nearly made me buy it on the website and schedule it for pick-up.
