Well it looks like the entire system is down as I can't even get anything from the stats server from Stanford.  All I get is internal server error.

Yah I have been trying that first for the past day or so and kept getting the same thing.

The official stats page is back up, but the flat files are still waiting for their first update.

But will the flat files be fixed?  Last time the flat files were broken because they didn't even compile the points properly.  Stanford really needs to get this resolved, and soon.  Though we know they don't really care about it :).

Flat files are publishing again - Just logged into my home system to verify the 11am Eastern update came in.

That's the Work Server side, not the Stats server.

It appears that while there were data files being published, the data that was being pushed out today and yesterday didn't change at all.  That's not to say the data isn't correct in the database as the 'live' donor and team pages are still updating, but the flat files are still being worked on, so EOC may not update for a while with good data.

Just keeping you all in the loop with what I know.

We are currently running a manual stat update, it should take a few hours since A LOT of WUs are currently un-accredited. I am sorry this wasnt caught earlier on.

Just got that update from FF.net

The points values started incrementing on the last update, so as long as the system stays standing, the next time you pull should have an updated set of points, depending on if their WU updates are finished.

Hopefully this time they're actively working on the issue - This evening, each hour has shown a different change in the flat files when they're not updated, which is indicating things HAPPENING on the back end instead of a broken server just being broken.

Unfortunately I need to head to bed soon, but if they get things fixed that I can see before I do, I'll be sure to update here . . . if the forum issues/bugs that have been creeping back and forth over HERE don't keep me from doing so . . . (They're chasing those bugs down and squashing them, too)

Supposedly Stanford is troubleshooting the problem - but it STILL seems to just be getting worse....and worse....and worse...

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

Re: Stanford folding points database not accessible 2017/09/13 02:32:55 (permalink)
The last bit of info I got is that they are transitioning the stats system over to new hardware starting at 10am Pacific Time today.

This placed the last planned update at noon Eastern.  However, the failing system decided that 1am Eastern was a better time to take a nap, apparently, as that's the last flat file I got last night/this morning.  Whatever is going on with the old box, it's accelerating, so I think their hand was forced as to WHEN the hardware transition was occurring.

Either way, as I learn anything new, I'll pass it along.

Good news! They migrated the database and stats processes over to new hardware and I can verify that the 7 and 8pm Eastern updates have pushed and are incrementing as expected!  Be sure to double check your points and let the Pande Group know if there are any obvious errors over on the FF.Org site and they'll get to it as soon as they are able to!

I hope this new stats server lasts longer than the old one!! They replaced it around this time in 2016, apparently.

Maybe related or not to the badges as well?
Little new on here but is anyone else having this issue with the web control page?

Been stuck on loading for past 2 days now.
I can click on my ID in advanced control skim the page and find my user name and my points no prob.
So everything is counted for. (I just liked seeing my total without always looking at the big team list all the time)
Just maybe the migration broke something here?
I found one other here

"by  » Thu Sep 14, 2017 11:08 amIt's perfectly possible that the ranks are completely valid. A 10,000+ drop in rank over the course of three and a half days was just a bit startling
On a slightly different note, I wonder if the migration has broken the local web control's ability to pull stats in and display them:

edit: sorry the underlined part was a post from someone on the folding forums but the links aren't allowed. (Looks like your filters took out the user name as well)
They had posted the same screenshot as I.

Looks like it's more likely that the process that reaches out to the EOC server to pull data to create the badges has fallen down. It MAY be a side effect of so many 'zero' updates in a row, but based on what I'm seeing, that process only deals with the EOC server, NOT the Stanford folding server directly. I posted in the badge thread to hopefully grab the right attention to have that process/server checked on.

I haven't found any threads over on www.foldingforum.org under the folding client sub-forum. You may want to post there to see if there's anyone else there who'll add in and hopefully provide enough noise for the Stanford team to look into it.

The badges come from a completely different source, so no relation.

Advanced Control is working normally, I never bother with what I class as "that worse then worthless web control junk" so I'll never notice if it stops working or not.

You might have a "stuck work unit" issue on one unit, try shutting down the client and restarting is usually the fix.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.

Web control back to normal. Not sure when exactly it cleared up but there it is Points Earned and no loading.
