These prices are discouraging. I guess my new build will wait another 6 months or longer until these prices stabilize at a more reasonable level.

The issue I see with this is there is no reason to price the next card, which I believe will be GTX 1180, at any more than $800. Ok yes it is near impossible to get a 1080 for less than $1000, but that isn't Nvidia's price. I also am the person that wants the rumor mills to be wrong and Nvidia release a GTX 1180 at less than $800, and even if they do that, there will still be $1000 cars so thanks to the third parties.

Misleading and clickbait article, obviously nVidia itself won't set such MSRP. 1500 USD will be the real price if you want to purchase it as it is constantly out of stock but speculating that MSRP for 2080 will be 1500 is impossible for 2080. For new Titan, yes perhaps, but def not 2080.

PS4 always wait use and we can enjoy in 1-2 or 3 years old GPU.
We all know that price will go up until people stop to buy them. We could estimate that even 2012-2013.
Increasing price little by little is to avoid to customers react like frog when you throw in hot water, he will jump out, but if you start to heat easy he will eventually die inside.

Normal advanced humanoid beings from some other galaxy would be capable to control that and organize self in group of customers who refuse to pay price and cost would naturaly drop to 300-400 euro.
Humans from Planet Earth are not capable to do that, they have different characteristics who force them to do destructive things for their pocket and budget.
And this news about price are send from NVIDIA to check market, than they launch 1199$ price... WOW it's good it's not 1500$, than custom model reach 1350$ and suddenly reference NVIDIA cost more because people want them, it's "reliable"  And they charge 1500$ and customer are not aware how much they paid, they still think price is something else. Like we seen with 1080, 599$ reference model advertised NVIDIA, people celebrate and paid 800$ months.
You have no chance, smart brains work on that and only solution is like I sad and that was proven effective solution, worked many time in pass. But profile of buyers shape behavior of seller.

I give my last price 750-800$, if that mean that I need to buy old TITAN X Pascal when new generation show up I can't do nothing with that... I will buy, install block and play games.
Or even Pascal TITAN XP when price drop... Market will be full when successor show up.

You only need to wait little more, minners are out of control and Europe just say that will control Cryptocurrency Market if need. That mean they could destroy that not natural currency over night.                                          Thousands will cry like little kids, but history learn us that will not help them.
Ravenge of gamers, stab from back, Bitcoin worth nothing from next morning, all transfers need to stop...
We would build RIGs with Octa SLI for 200-250$.

I would have to see Nvidia list the 2080 (if that's it's name) at that high of price to believe it.  Right now, I don't believe they will.  Not even close to that.

$500 is my topend for a GPU, but I can see Nvidia keeping their GPU's on the highside, just to take advantage of the current market, and keep prices higher indefinitely.....

I can still see the 2080 or what ever it may be called staying above $1K, even once and if Coin-ing goes away or not...

    well I can see it
I was warning you guys fabs costs are up so are dram or GDDR price, because of fabs switching to making dram for servers
Let alone the competition to buy up fab lines by chip makers(out bid each other)
and we have new GDDR6 on new fab process as well as new GPU on new process
and you will have MORE ram on-Board

so ya i figured a jump of a $100-200 a card = but $1500 thats gotta be wrong
maybe if we get 32GB od GDDR6

$1,500? Maybe for a heavy compute card that also plays games on the side, but not for a gamer card. Heck that's even pushing it for a Titan card, and it would have to be a pretty damn impressive Titan at that price point.

I have no intention of ever buying a Titan again btw. The Titan X Pascal is a great card (once you add aftermarket cooling), but you can almost guarantee NVidia are going to bend you over and give you a jolly rogering if you buy anything Titan.

They'll charge whatever they think the market can bear. As is, GPU pricing is rediculous. Imagine when the MSRP matches the street price now.

Please AMD make the baddest(read Best) gpu you have ever made.. so when the Nvidia cards come put they will have to drop prices to compete.
$1500 Bleh.. Dont think its true, but i am sure prices will be higher than what they are now.. thats just how it works.

I was speculating $800-1000 for xx80 gpu max due costs of doing business rising significantly lately, but $1500.00 would be very hard to swallow if I needed a new gpu and that was the cost.

My issue with the rumor is that yes current gen cards are $1000+, but they won't be when they started getting sold so that people can use the money for the new cards. Also, the DRAM price argument only makes sense if they put an obscene amount on it, a $20-30 increase for 8 GB only needs a price increase of $20-30 to off set.

No doubt prices will increase from last year primarily due to increasing DRAM and GDDR memory prices as well as higher GPU chip costs but hopefully prices will stay lower than 1000 dollars.

Only way I could see that is if the performance is amazing for mining to the point that the 1080ti is no longer seen as good for that. If it gave back the 1080 and 1070 as great gaming cards to get then I wouldn't mind seeing miners paying $1500 for a video card.

I hope not I think will be seeing the slow death of PC gaming if this trend continues especially if the New Xbox can do 4k gaming at a cost of 600 dollars or less. But it seems no matter what Nvidia and AMD will keep pushing the prices has high as they can especially with GPU mining being a thing as it does not look like it's going away anytime soon.

most of the diodes (much less most parts) nowadays are too small to really see and tell apart from each other

tell me what is what?   lol the big chips are easier

I can identify most of those components.

From top left to bottom right: IC, inductor, 2 x capacitor, 4 x resistor, 2 x resistor, diode, capacitor, IC, 3 x capacitor, diode, 3 x capacitor, 3 x resistor, IC, bridge rectifier diode?, 3 x capacitor, diode?, diode, 5 x resistor, inductor, 2 x resistor
