Why would you ask when you know some folks do it for cosmetic reasons?  I do, the GPU looks much nicer with the fingers capped versus the bare fingers. Not a big deal though.

I don't know. I always took them off and threw them in the box.

Buy a second card and an SLI bridge if you want to have the SLI connector covered. :)
