I’ve read that obtaining Elite status requires 100 contributing posts but I’m seeing a lot of counting and spamming from eager noobs. Is there any official word on the acceptability of these methods? edit Cool GTX added [NO is the answer] to title

yes spam can get you banned, and the Mods are already annoyed by the spam so tread carefully

I know of at least one who was reset to 0 already, it is getting silly. This is not the first time this has happened here either. When they first started the elite program it happened. Just to get a colored shroud, and had to pay extra to get it at that. This too shall come to pass.

I love that EVGA now fully encourages Spam. It’s fantastic.
At least they are attempting to contain it to one crap post instead of all of the forums being filled with crap posts.

At least a reasonably priced 1080ti. Miners are less likely to jump through hoops for one.

So true there, though every single price is going up with the market the way it is

EVGA has always encouraged spam on here. Do you remember how the computer industry news section was always spammed with just url's in the topics? For the longest time evga didn't want to make any posting guidelines, because they were afraid it would make members not post anything. It would be a miracle, if someone could get evga to understand there is a difference between posting articles that interest you and posting just about every new article that you find on your favorite tech news website. That would require someone who honestly cares and wants to improve things. EVGA brought all the spam on themselves by making 100 post count requirement for elite status.

I can't even imagine being an actual gamer (like most of us here) who just want to buy a videocard to play actual games with it. If my video cards crapped out today, I think it would be difficult finding a replacement. Thankfully EVGA has a good warranty.

nateman_doo didnt you guys notice that sticky thread that promotes spam? https://forums.evga.com/Obtain-your-elite-status-here-m2760671.aspx
We are trying to save the integrity of the Forums and give a specific place for the lower value posts by those who must make 100 posts in an hour because they think that EVGA is hording Elite GPUs in a secret back room All they need to do is purchase and register two qualifying EVGA products; no posting required

Unfortunately it isn't always that easy. For example, I have all my parts save for my graphics card so there's no point in buying two other products to register them if I either don't need or can't use them.

Or people who have bought EVGA products in the past, registered them but they no longer count as viable marks for Elite status.

If my 1080 Ti straight-up died today, I would be very sad. Might even cry depending on how long I'd have to go without it... that thing is as precious as game-playing gold to me at this point. Just prepping for the eventuality of needing to upgrade and maximizing my chances of being able to buy a card when needed with the EVGA elite thing. Lesson learned, never sell the previous card... and I don't mean that just because 980 Tis are selling for far more than I sold mine for some months ago.

so it's like: rule 1: don't spam rule 2: if you are going to break rule 1, please do it in approved spam channels Kind of confusing.

I'm thinking that the post count requirement should be removed as soon as possible, but I'm sure changes to the elite program have to go through some degree of red tape to happen no doubt. I can kind of understand the idea of "if it cannot be destroyed, it must at least be contained" but not sure if that's the best/only possible option at this point. though I'm sure mods and admins are arguing over the post count spam and how to address it in a mod/admin only forum that I assume exist, as well as whatever other systems they have going related to that. Regardless I'm thinking that its at the point where most us just have to wait and see what will happen/how things will go now.

Why is pre-ordering a bad idea? Limiting it to one per household/address should be good enough to prevent those who wants a 1080ti for other than gaming purposes. Or am I wrong about this?

I am all for a limit of one per week or per month in times of shortage. What about folders, to they get a card? EVGA supports folding and has a team. If I want to game, fold or mine, it is my card.... To limit it to people who play games is not right.

When I bought my 2 EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrids in 2017 - same issue 1 per household - bought the second one on Newegg actually cost much less in shipping - so save some $ there I would hope that a reset 3m/ 6m or whatever would happen for people to buy a second card Till then https://www.evga.com/products/wheretobuy.aspx Folding for Team EVGA --> 9 GPU strong & six of those are EVGA cards --> they don't make Titans Xp or it would have been 9 of 9

For what it's worth, not all of us newbies are hitting 100 post count via spam. Some of us actually enjoy hanging around on forums. :P I already spend entirely too much of my free time on the Cyberpunk 2077 forums. Why not here, too?

Thank you & Welcome to the EVGA Forums Family I believe most never meant to insinuate all new members are single minded (must hit 100 posts fast as possible - regardless of how) Seems to me to be the typical < 10% of the people cause 80% of the need for a reminder to follow the rules (TOS) Hope you are learning, sharing and enjoying your EVGA forums experience
